Just wanted to post my luck as well on crafting a +2 wand. I'm 4 crafts in and haven't even seen a +1 yet. This is definitely a huge YMMV type of thing. Definitely don't do this if you have clear easier to obtain upgrades, do those first. This is more about min maxing and getting the most out of your build.

But I did hit it, was the 41st or 42nd hit, not sure. Annul hit a suffix and I thought that since I am already 20ex into this I can throw in a "Prefixes cannot be changed" for 2ex, scour, and multimod it for another 2ex.

Sucks that it hit spell damage instead of minion damage though. It is a 50-50 it seems.

Now my crawler is level 30, 1 level away from the huge DPS jump at level 31. But The only way to get it would be an amulet or shield with +1. Both pretty hard to justify from a defensive perspective. But the boost is soooo huge at 31! Gotta think about it...

Congrats on finally hitting it! Sorry it took so many tries. If you want to try your luck at something a little less expensive but a nice upgrade if you don't have it, try making a corrupted Tempered Spirit with the mod "Corrupted Blood Cannot Be Inflicted on You".

On a note about HOA levels. Ugh that is a hard decision. Going from 30 to 31 is huge. But I have no idea defensively if it's worth dropping the amulet or Shield.

An anti corrupted blood is something I put into every build I make. Onee of the first things I bought was a Tempered Spirit with it. Was like 10c. Too much work making it yourself for that price :D

you were lucky then. I checked just yesterday and they were up to like 4ex.

Nah, wasn't a lucky snipe or something, there were like 20 of them for under 50c back then. I started this before it became pretty much a meta build, so maybe in that way I was lucky :D

My first gut instinct would be to assume the amulet as well. Only problem is you lose so many stats if you drop it. Then you still have to make sure you have enough dex to cover HOA so you're still running some not optimum gear probably. Seems like a headache. But that sweet sweet lvl 31 HOA.

I just checked my build and going from level 29 to level 31 would take me from 1.33m an attack and 3.8m dps to 1.63m an attack and 5.13m dps.

It's a huge jump to get emp 4 and then add a +1 amulet. But the stats. Hmmm.

01/04/2020 Update:

Animate Guardian Set Up (Thank you CTSabba for the inspiration)!

Picked up Animate Guardian with Kingmaker, Leer Cast helmet, Southbound glove, Victario's Flight boots and a rare armor with +100 life, 2% regeneration, and crafted "gain 10% of maximum life as energy shield". Changed the tree slightly to pick up 24% minion life and 1% regeneration on the way to Death Attunement.

My shield link is Raise Spectre => Animate Guardian => Minion Life (way cheaper than empower 4 and also provide more life which scales with rare chest armor and spirit offering). Animate Guardian with 55K health, 7600 energy shield and 1600 per second health regeneration, if I block he gets 2500 per second health regeneration, plus 10000 energy shield every 4 seconds or so from spirit offering. I wouldn't do delve 1000 or Sirus with him, but all other contents seem to be fine, I don't even see his health dip ever. Fortify, while not totally reliable given the small radius of Kingmaker, can still be a life saver. Culling strike smooth out the mapping tremendously, my ball of lightning and spectres can finish off low health minions efficiently.

To further upgrade this, you can add Garb of the Ephemeral to your Animate Guardian which will prevent enemies from dealing critical strikes and greatly reduce the effect of temporal chains and other slow effects. Or you can add a Mask of the Stitched Demon to give your Animate Guardian over 10K per second life regeneration if you want to take him into tougher contents.

Finally, with minion life support, I changed four Stoneskin Flayers to four carnage chieftains, without blood magic, two carnage chieftains can not keep up with frenzy charges consistently, and it is far more powerful than power charges so I ditched host chieftains. They each have 62K health and get the same defense. If you lose a chieftain on a map, that map is probably too dangerous for your Animate Guardian. Again with spirit offering I have yet to see they dip in health with this set up, even took the crew to delve 500 for a spin and they did fine, but this allows me to change my curse to projectile weakness and ensures I can do the same damage in boss fights.

With the exception of super difficult delve contents and Sirus fight, I believe this set up is better overall. I can always switch back to poacher's mark and stoneskin flayers if I am doing more difficult contents and unsummon my animate guardian, this set up seems to be the best of both worlds.

I don't see any boots with everything available for sale. I have the relevant enchants. But it's hard finding boots with three open slots to accept the multiple enchants followed by the other two.

What's the best way to generate the base for this? Just roll alterations and regals until you create a decent base?

I'm a relatively new player so I appreciate the advice.

I was also looking today for one boots to put CC belt but I'm on really tide budget so I've bought 2 pairs of Two-Toned and crafted, those are not perfect ofc but with that ring I'm maxed out on res (but not for EW just yet). Actually in 700ish alts I've crafted 2 pairs almost identical (second was not with fire res but lightning + cold with same life roll, sold them for 100c so craft was almost free).

All together around 3.3 ex per pair.
Edit: I've snatched that ring after I got boots and it was only 20c, pretty decent price to cover all 3 res.

Alright, two HUGE upgrades happened within 15 minutes. I bought this amulet for 2ex and multimodded it, so 4ex total:



To make it work I had to change a +30 str node to a +30 dex node. That was enough to still use a 21 HoAg gem. Now I had a level 31 HoAg, which is a 23% total DPS boost over a level 30. In my case it was 950k more Shaper DPS. And I lost only 350 ES, which is SO totally worth it.

And then this:



came on the market for 40ex. Was actually planning to use my remaining saved up currency on a Watchers Eye, but 40ex for a +2 with perfect colors seemed incredibly cheap from having watched the market over the last days.

My numbers:

15100 ES
Shaper DPS with Pierce: 4.3m
Shaper DPS with Vile Toxins: 5.1m

And I am not using Unwavering Crusade! With it it would be:

Shaper DPS with Pierce: 5.1m
Shaper DPS with Vile Toxins: 6m

So yea, 6m Shaper DPS reached if I decide to switch Time of Need or Bastion of Hope back to Unwavering Crusade. But honestly, the numbers are already insane enough without it, and they both provide significant defense and utility.

I'm looking at that amulet and it's only 60 dex. Even if we add a +30 dex node that puts us at 90dex. Where are you getting the rest of your dex from? If I swapped this in it'd put me about 8dex short of being able to run level 21 HOA and I'm basically cap rolled on all my attribute gear.

Mhh, have you factored in my 14% attributes from the belt? I end up at exactly 160dex right now.

EDIT: Oh! And my CoN has +6 to all attributes.

But really, even changing both +30 str nodes to +30 dex would be worth it to get level 31.

I could also drop Aligned Spirits and use the 3 passives to keep my +30 str and get Dynamo. Might actually be better. Lose a bit of damage, gain a good deal of ES. Gotta check that
