I've made it to 77 so far with this build and I did a couple things. I kept pride in a socket in a weapon swap to keep it leveled but didn't bring it to the front till I was in Act 9 with the mana leech node and 20 mana on block. If you keep your weapon updated the damage is more than there. I just picked up 1h white weps and used essences I found. As well anytime I had a 4 link str/dex gear drop I'd pick it up so long as the base was better and use an alch orb. Keeping everything on a min 4 link helped a lot.

Also I used The Anvil as a neck since it dropped early and bought a Thousand Teeth Temu for 1 alch as early as I could which helped a bunch with leveling. I've swapped out the Anvil as I've needed more resists but I'll go back to it as I get my gear up.
Thanks for the post ZenJelly!

I like reading what people do with the build as they progress, both in the campaign and the atlas. You made good points too. Melee skills really depend on their weapon for instance.

Thanks for the post.

Hey there!
This build looks great but I would like to play lacerate instead of bladestorm.
I just replaced it in PoB and everything looks fine to me.
Do you think I need to do any changes to the tree?
Thanks!
Hey TheTrMachine!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. The beginning of leagues are very busy. Sorry. I hope you started with Lacerate. It works perfectly with this build. I personally haven't given the skill too much time so I'm not sure about it's AoE size in either stance. So the only thing to consider with the original build is the value of Close Combat linked with Lacerate.

Nothing will need to change in the tree.

Let us know how it goes!

Understandable! And yes I have started it a bit although I still play with my league starter (storm burst trickster).
Anyway, I did replace Close combat with Multistrike and it works great so far, although I only played the character a couple of hours after finishing the campaign.
I will try to get him to endgame for sure so I will let you know!

This build is the first one I have ever played that got me a deathless act10 kitava kill
Awesome job tcggammergod!

Good for you! It takes skill to do that, no matter the build. Great job!

I actually just picked PoE back up because of your guides, Wrecker. I'd played around with it years ago when it first came out, I pretty much beat A3 and started the next difficulty level and gave it up. I started with your RF build for the last couple weeks of Blight/3.8 as I got back into it, and really enjoyed that build. Figured I'd do this one for 3.9 and its been a bit up and down so far (not having great resists is roughing me up a bit) but it's solid so far and as I improve my gear, I think that will smooth out.

Anyways, this is a super cool thing that you, putting together these guides for a very particular sort of playstyle, and that's really awesome and commendable. Thank you!
Hey Seraphgrim!

That's a wonderful post to read. Thanks for taking the time to be encouraging! I'm glad you like the game and I'm happy to have helped you enjoy it.

Good for your going RF your first time back in a while! That's risky! Good job.

I know you said your 3.9 character was getting more stable (and that your post was a week ago) but let me (and everyone else know how it's going and if you have any questions.

Again, thanks for such a kind and encouraging post :).

I'm pretty new back to PoE, but am I missing something? Playing Metamorph league, I'm at level 43 and have found 4 unique items, none of which were really useful for me at all. Your gear is better than mine, at level 20. Is there some sort of particularly effective way to farm for decent lowbie gear?
There's no secret Seraphgrim :).

Well, okay, there are a million secrets to this game, but the requirement for farming for gear is GGG stronghold. My buddy Tagz always gets a unique from Hillock at the beginning of the game. Me? Never. It's just how it goes.

(There are certain areas that only drop certain items (like divination cards among many other things. So some people like to farm those areas for HOURS trying to get Div Cards that'll hopefully give them what they want. But they are either later in the campaign or in the Atlas.

Thank you for a lovely build!
Any advice how I can improve damage?
Spoiler
Hey Ogrenci!

Nice gear! You've done well! It's just rolls that you can improve on for damage with your gear. For example, though your weapon has great DPS, the % to physical damage is low. The flat damage is high, but not the %. If you found a weapon with both high flat damage and 175%+ to physical damage, you'd see a big increase. Steel Rings have good Damage Implicits for us too.

But honestly, your gear looks great!

And thanks for the thanks! I'm glad you're liking it.

I've been playing this build in SC SSF and have had a lot of fun. A few of my recommendations to those starting out:

- Add in Leap Slam for mobility if you like that style. I think removing culling strike or Tempest Shield if you don't have any other spots and/or if you have high enough block already
- Avoid the Vaal Pact node if you are doing Lab Trials or the Labrynth. Having no regen really sucks for those. I haven't found Vaal Pact necessary in my build yet but that could change later.
- There are some metamorphs which do a lot of chaos damage (not sure really what goes on but my health drops a lot sometimes). I've found having chaos flask or remove poison flask is helpful to substitute in right before the fight.
- This build is amazing for mobs who come at you and attack. It can be a bit frustrating to kill tanky mobs who don't really attack (e.g. they summon stuff or run around). Sometimes best just to leave them and move on to kill other mobs quickly :)
- I'm still not clear if I should use gear with any Evasion because I'm concerned that means I won't block. If anyone knows the answer let me know. I have Thousand Teeth Temu but I'm not using it for that reason.
- Finally I found the belly during a metamporh battle after killing Tolman in Act 8. Haven't had much luck yet with any chase uniques otherwise but here's hoping :)

Cheers!

Awesome feedback Tallinn!

I like reading how people personalize my builds. You've given some good tips and advice! This league (like Syndicate) really puts focus back on Chaos Resist. I like it. It makes it hard but I'm a fan. In regards to your question about Evasion and Armour, there's very little focus on Evasion or Armour on the tree. We have some investment inadvertently, but it's nothing worth investing in. I have our main defence as Blocking...so with your gear, just focus on life, resists, and damage. Defensive mods like increasing Evasion or Armour don't have much significance to the build, nor will they interrupt the build's design.

Good advice and question. And I'm glad you're enjoying yourself! Thanks for your kind words.

Well, I loosely followed your build, and got to lvl 89.5.

It's not bad! I replaced main skill with lacerate, with focus on bleeding. It's wrecking through the content quite safely.

Everyone's welcome to look at my char - Anhedonian
Sweet darkdhaos!

Nice personalization with Lacerate. I've heard from a few people that have used it. Nice job. Bleed is such a fun mechanic.

Thanks for the post!

Ok, hit level 61 SSF and just killed Milagro. Still progressing very smoothly, I'm taking it slow and enjoying the ride, clearing all levels and doing the metamorphs. I also ventured into the mine a bit at the end of the night last night to play around.

The build just wrecks standard mobs without even bothering to think about anything. Just click Bladestorm and leap slam to next mob, pick up goodies, rinse / repeat.

A couple notes. I gave up on Tempest shield to add Reckoning to go with Vengeance. Seems better and I really notice the counter-attacks flaring up all the time.

I heartily endorse Leap Slam to jump into the very middle of packs. You want to be surrounded and being able to get out should you get a strong boss is equally important. I just maximizes your Bladestorm and speeds up getting around. Also very underrated to be able to leap across small gaps, especially in the lab.

I did the first lab and I'm getting ready to do the cruel lab soon to get the Ascendancy to block spell damage.

I'm still using Double Strike (Vaal) as my boss killer as I think it's better than adding Riposte at this point. It just shreds them at this point, even with a crappy rare sword I used an essence on. I still don't have a 5-link or six-link yet. I have a six socket armor that I'm running a Stone Golem on for life regen (mainly for labs). Hopefully I'll find something soon. I gave it about a dozen tries to six-link it but was unsuccessful and decided to save my links for a higher end armor.

I died a few times to some high Chaos damage bosses before I got a decent flask to combat that. So far it's still passing the fun test and using the Vaal double strike on bosses while using Bladestorm to clean up the masses and whittle down bosses is working like a charm.

The character still passes the fun test and it's great to play Melee and feel tanky for once, especially after running a Necromancer glass cannon in Blight.
Sweet Thrippy!

Good feedback, advice, and suggestions. I just responded to your other post so I won't repeat what I said there, but I'm really glad you liking it and find it fun and easy. (I once tried 3500 fusings and didn't get the 6-link...)

Thanks for the encouragement and great job on your modifications.

I've really enjoyed this build, I took the bottom wing of the skill tree for mana leech and then went to the left, now almost done with the right section in act 9 and will finish up the middle for the life nodes. 4 life flasks and 1 mana (which isn't used much anymore) has worked fine, it's rare to need that much life, I might switch 1-2 for boss tankiness.

It's been really fun finding a new weapon which has nice physical damage, I found one last night and my dps jumped 50% from the previous.

The only issue I've had is massive lag spikes which started with this league, some of the metamorph boss spawns are killed before my screen even refreshes 1 frame, so being able to hit a potion and pray works really well with this build thanks to its tankiness. Even walking across a zone as each little pack of trash come on screen, I get a 1 second of 0fps and big lag spike. Medium texture to limit the special effects helps some, but again this tanky build is great for these circumstances.
Hey breunor!

I'm glad you're liking it so much! Melee is pretty nuts on how dependant your DPS is on it. I mean, it sounds dumb when I type it out, but it's not when you compare it to minions and spells. I'm glad you're having such a great time!

I've actually found that this league has been the most stable from an FPS/lag side. I'm sorry it's been poor performance. Could it be your internet? I play on an Xbox One original and have had no issues at all in 3.9. But anyway, I don't know much about that stuff.

I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad you're enjoying it so much! Thanks again.
