Hard crashing PC locks up

Reminder to use the "--ex-crash-report" to send crash report data to GGG whenever you crash.

For Steam:

Goto Library->Path of Exile 2 properties by right-clicking the icon->General->Launch Option-> Add --ex-crash-report
to the box.

For Standalone client:

Right the desktop shortcut->Properties->In the target field add --ex-crash-report

The game still keeps on crashing for many...

There is also the fact that Microsoft have not backed GGG's claim of working with Microsoft to find a better long term solution. They had made an announcement for the case with the Ubisoft, but not with the GGG... So GGG's claim that they are working with Microsoft is suspicious.

So once again I'm bumping with these questions, in hopes that maybe they will get answered by GGG's official staff:

1) What went wrong?

2) What you are doing to fix it?

3) What possible causes have you eliminated as the source of the problem?

4) What triggers have you discovered that starts the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds)

5) What is your estimated time of fix?

6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in your testing period?

7) What you will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue?

8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game?

To other paying customers like me who have spent their money on this faulty product:

As long as GGG is not interested in open communication our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner.
I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do:
1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad.
2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review.
3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there.
No system freezes since the patch, and I've played for many dozens of hours since.
I think GGG should consider implementing PoEUncrasher tactic into PoE1 & 2 until Windows fixes the issue
I had problems starting and playing PoE1 & 2 even changing core affinity myself, it wasn't enough, sometimes took couple tries and managed to get into the game only to to freeze a bit later during travelling with portal
AutoHDR didn't fix the problem, changing core affinity manually didn't do either

however, running PoEUncrasher resolved the problem completely

who knows how long MS will take to create and roll out fix for it, and even when they do, some systems might be unpatched for whatever reason

best solution would be to at least implement same core parking mechanics that PoEUncrasher is using in both PoE1 and PoE2

This also contains information. A very important one:

Microsoft does not acknowledge that this is a Windows 11 24H2 issue. They did it with Ubisoft when it ACTUALLY was a Windows 11 24H2 issue.

This is extremely important because GGG claims that they are working with Microsoft, but we know from experience that Microsoft's modus operandi in these type of cases is to acknowledge the issue publicly and warn their users. So one side is not being truthful... Is it Microsoft or GGG? Which one is more trustworthy? The one that works fine for every other game than one specific studio's games OR that studio with a game that hard crashes on every OS that can run it?

If you need more detailed information I'm happy to give you.
The Proof:

This is the official Microsoft website:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2

Known Issues for Windows 11 24H2 does not mention any multithreading issues, system freezes, or GGG/Path of Exile. Same with other Windows versions such as Windows 10 22H2.

"Select games might stop responding on Windows 11, version 24H2 devices" is considered RESOLVED by Microsoft as of "2025-01-23, 10:49 PT".

You can check this from the official site: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2#3448msgdesc

GGG's Path of Exile 2 was still hard crashing after this date. So this issue is obviously unrelated to PoE2's hard crash issues.

There is also "Auto HDR might cause games to stop responding or display incorrect colors" which is also considered RESOLVED by Microsoft as of "2025-02-11, 10:00 PT".

You can check this from the official site:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2#3466msgdesc

This one is also unrelated to GGG's case. By definition it does not cause hard crashes. Because if it did Windows would notify you by clarifying it; as they did with the previous issues: "In some cases, users might receive a black screen." or with the current Easy Anti-Cheat issue: "In rare cases, when users open or play certain games, this issue causes affected devices to stop responding and to show a blue screen with the error “MEMORY_MANAGEMENT”. Most devices experiencing this issue use Easy Anti-Cheat drivers released before April 2024."

But I've added this because of the theory that Auto-HDR was causing the hard crashes keeps getting posted once in a while.

There are no other "known issues" in Microsoft's official information page that are even tangentially related to Path of Exile 2's hard crash issues. In other words they are not working together with GGG to fix this issue as GGG claims on "State of the Early Access" post.

The questions I ask are extremely important in establishing clear, honest, and open communication between GGG and their paying customers.

As long as GGG is not interested in open and honest communication our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner.

So GGG is lying, no other games are suffering from the same issues as Path of Exile 2, Ubisoft is not one of the biggest companies ever, doesn't mass produce large mainstream titles, has no money, and no PR pressure, and most definitely isn't related to the one of the most biggest gaming titles - Assassin Creed, which is also definitely not having the same crash/freeze issues related to the Win11 24H2. Also, games like RS:6, Battlefield V, CoD, NFS, are not suffering from the 24H2 issue, are fixed, or are acknowledged by MS just like the Ubisoft games, but I am blind. Gotcha.
Again, please grow a spine, and stop spamming, GGG doesn't refer to steam reviews, but direct feedbacks like everyone is doing in the forums.

According to Microsoft, the issues of those games had with Windows 11 24H2 has been resolved in 23 of January, 2025. If they have any other issues, it is not due to Windows 11 24H2.

"Select games might stop responding on Windows 11, version 24H2 devices" is considered RESOLVED by Microsoft as of "2025-01-23, 10:49 PT".

GGG's Path of Exile 2 was still hard crashing after this date. So this issue is obviously unrelated to PoE2's hard crash issues.

The games you have listed here were having this problem according to Microsoft, and it is now considered as resolved. As you can see from the date that it has been resolved this issue has nothing to do with Path of Exile 2's hard crashes, because they were happening after this date.

In addition, Windows 10 22H2 page does not have ANY known issues related to games, yet Path of Exile 2 crashes on that OS. Same with Windows 11 23H2.

So yes. GGG is most probably lying. Also in terms of pure money and influence GGG has a lot more than Ubisoft as it is Tencent-owned.

So once again I'm listing these questions, in hopes that maybe they will get answered by GGG's official staff:

1) What went wrong?

2) What are you doing to fix it?

3) What possible causes have you eliminated as the source of the problem?

4) What triggers have you discovered that start the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds)

5) What is your estimated time of fix?

6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in your testing period?

7) What will you be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue?

8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game?

CPU Limiter with Process Lasso:
When CPU use is: 95%
For a period of: 2 seconds
Reduce by this many CPU Cores: 4
For a period of: 2 seconds

This is the only way to play the game, whenever I removed this settings over PL the game restart the whole PC.

Until GGG fix, the game should not be RECOMMENDED.
May brick your CPU beyond REPAIR.

Somehow when the CPU reach all 'time USAGE'
it seems the voltage ramp up to a point the PC has to restart in order to protect the cpu.

Back to poe1?!
The client has endless issues.
This is not the only issue, we have an audio issue too. (crackling)
And many more...

REFUND?
At this point, the game is not safe for average joe, but the streamers client seems to be without any issue so far.

GGG you don't deserve the clients you have.
