Hard crashing PC locks up

Still happening. Hard freeze with the sound jammed, can't alt-f4 nor move the mouse and I have to hard shut down the computer.

OS: Windows 10 22H2
CPU: i9-12900K
GPU: 3060 Ti
RAM: 32GB DDR4
Motherboard: TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4

All windows updates are done
Bios is up to date
GPU Drivers are up to date
No overclocking nor XRP or anything like that.

This usually happens once in 3-4 days. Yesterday it happened twice in the span of 4 hours and it's really brutal when It occurs and makes me scared to continue playing the game, even though I love it.

Do I see this correctly this thread is now hidden for some reason or it is how PoE's forum works like? I thought popular threads should stay visible on top?

You answered your own question, they deployed a fix that solved the crash/freeze for the majority, so people are engaging less with the threads although some are still having the issue.

i see both of the lockup and multithreading topics are still active but sure

It ought to be stickied or pinned to front page until this problem gets resolved.

Known Issues

Recently Fixed :

Cases where some players experience crashes related to Multithreading and have to restart their PCs. This seems to mostly be for players with the Windows 24H2 update.

It's expected to have problems during EA , but there's way too many since too long and GGG burying their head in the sand and then lying about fixing stuff is starting to piss me off .

Reminder to use the "--ex-crash-report" to send crash report data to GGG whenever you crash.

For Steam:

Goto Library->Path of Exile 2 properties by right-clicking the icon->General->Launch Option-> Add --ex-crash-report
to the box.



For Standalone client:

Right the desktop shortcut->Properties->In the target field add --ex-crash-report

And the target should look like this: "C:\Program Files\Path of Exile 2\Client.exe" --ex-crash-report

When I went to add this, I noticed that you didn't have Steam overlay on. I also turned mine off just to be sure. I'm pretty sure I'm going to completely freeze again, but I'm going to try to play for the first time in what seems like months.

Issue not fixed. Still exact same thing happening in the exact same way.

The issue still continues on Windows 10.

It has been 2 months now...

Why isn't GGG accepting this is not a Windows 11 24H2 issue? I wish it was a Windows 11 24H2 issue. That way I wouldn't be here.

I mean this "more general" hard crash is definitely harder to fix but the other one? We know what triggers it, we know how it can be avoided. Why can't GGG just go through each line of code that interacts with scene changes and once they catch the tail of the dragon there they can slowly work from that point to fix this one.

In addition GGG support loves banning me for asking these questions but I must ask them because they are not answering them at all.

The support mail does not work. I emailed them at the start, yet not one single reply back other than someone asking me my account name, something I have provided in the first mail... Once that was answered there was only silence though...

So once again I'm bumping with these questions, in hopes that maybe they will get answered by GGG's official staff:

1) What went wrong?

2) What you are doing to fix it?

3) What possible causes have you eliminated as the source of the problem?

4) What triggers have you discovered that starts the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds)

5) What is your estimated time of fix?

6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in your testing period?

7) What you will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue?

8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game?

To other paying customers like me who have spent their money on this faulty product:

As long as GGG is not interested in open communication our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner.
