Why is there such an intense difficulty ramp at Dominus

Dominus is OP, but imho, he's supposed to be. I think the main boss in PoE should be that powerful - and I say this as someone who has his ass handed to him every time I face him lol

Gotta improve my build!

Yep, this is the response I expected :-) read my post again, especially the first line, not even vaguely my point :-)

So just to make sure we're on the same page, this is how I consider the phases:

Phase 1: Initial setup - gang of elite guards, three elemental bosses

Phase 2: Some blue mobs spawn along with a shooter boss and one other. When you kill those two Orcus spawns.

Phase 3: Human dominus.

Phase 4: Monster dominus.

IMO - as a melee (infernal blow) character - phase 1 is hard if you get multiple bosses on you at once, but if you pull carefully it's fine. Phase 2 is trivial. Phase 3 is the hard one, and phase 4 is again trivial. (Unless you had been chugging your remove bleed potion like water during the first 3 phases and are forced to run through your portal about a second before your HC character dies to Corrupted Blood :-)

I agree with Psyborg 100% - by the time you kill Cruel dominus, Merciless difficulty is just "rebalance your resists and charge through as fast as possible because everything is so comparatively weak." That seems like a bad way for the game to flow.

If an act 4 is added to the game, I would DEFINITELY make Piety the end boss of Act 3 and save dominus for Act 4, where you've got a whole additional act to ramp up to him.

He also has this one attack that just kills you outright, one hit, no matter what your resists are.

The Touch of God attack does not auto-kill, it just deals a lot of damage. With enough hit points/resist/armor it can be survived. Evasion builds can dodge it entirely.

I've found Dominus' first form to be far more difficult than his second form for most of my characters. Having to kite something with a large energy shield makes for a long fight. Both my marauder and scion have face-tanked his second form.

Squirrel is love, Squirrel is life.
dominus is killer for old pc
and with lag+desync every1 dead more and more

Dominus is not too hard, me and my friend were the 1st Dominus kill on dominion and we made him with like Level 34 and for sure had some Problems, but that was just because of the like 8 Level difference. we werent even close to good gear but we understood how he works, that made it pretty much doable for us.

I loved the people crying about him being too hard, please continue :((

Ive had nice problem with my life/vaal pact duelist with his bleeding aura debuff:

I got killed and when coming back, his bleeding dubuff aura killed me before I reached him :) (happened twice). On third attempt he came closer to entrance so I was able to get to him with like 500HP (out of 3100) left and finished him :)

funny indeed, but is there a way how to counter it? Does it deal chaos dmg? (if it does, I already know my answer:))

you just have to play save, he basically cant kill you with his debuff when you arent close to him since he has to hit you so you get the debuff. if you mean the weird bloodrain thing, just dont ever run out of the circle and stay close to him.

There is nothing I like better than people who don't bother reading what's going on, and threadjack so that they can make ridiculous brags. Shine on, you crazy diamond!
Imagine how the monsters you're fighting feel.

They are used to dominate the land of Wracleast killing hordes of exiles that came before you ship by ship.
People live terrified from them, hidden in fortifications (Act towns).
And then you came.
And you face-tank them. And they can't even scratch you. Sometimes they don't even get a chance to see you, before you kill them off-screen with your melee weapon (that you spectraly threw away - you cheater!) :)

It's only fair that the same happens to you :)

Blood rain is not chaos damage, I'm CI and take loads of damage from it. It's bleeding damage, so it should be physical, but I don't know If you can mitigate it with armor... It stacks too, and with 4 stacks it drains you fast... People say it's %based off your hp/ES pool, but I can't confirm it.

yes, the problem was i wasnt careful and got killed. and the bloodrain kept killing me before I was able to get back to him (had portal in area bellow) because of no life regen and no flasks (vaal pact). my only chance to recover life is to attack

You do realize that if you die to the blood rain you can stay dead and watch until the blood rain stops then revive and use your portal without having to worry about the rain until you reengage him.
Luke: Sorry we have to leave you here, but it just ain't right to eat your wife's and daughter's brains. Plus you're really disgusting and I don't want to spend anymore time with you.
