Yes, you point out flaws in my logic and i pointed out your flaws about wanting the developers to work on something only a small user base will use. Also zeto i didn't call you a jerk i said you lacked manners. When your going to paraphrase at least do it correctly.

Also my inconsistency as you put it is that i don't think these niche builds will be very useful. Also please tell me how the goal of this game is not beat it. If those are arbitrary conditions I'M interested to see your conditions.

1. lacking manners comment is just obtuse. I know I can be blunt quite often and it's usually taken as me being a jerk. It's quite a fine paraphrase and it's ok with me as long as the conversation still remains germane.

2. your arbitrary conditions were for beating the game, not the niche builds. you arbitrarily left out aspects that you didn't want to include that could include portions where a niche build would be superior. That was my only point there.

As far as my conditions... the game is a multiplayer adventure RPG lootfest, so the best build has two characteristics:

1) it maximizes your fun
2) it maximizes your team's effectiveness at getting the best loot.

That's all... putting any other condition on it is moot.

and my conditions are arbitrary... Look if a extremely niche build can do the job the that's fine, but I don't see a build that can't function independently as a waste of time. My view point on that will not change so anymore discussion will waste both our times.

Just wanted to say... nothing that is being discussed falls under the rules for sound logical arguments because everything being discussed is opinion based.

So, all of this "you're not being logical" talk should just stop, as it seems to be a phrase people just throw in when they happen to disagree with someone elses opinion.

If someone says.

a. If it is raining you will get wet.
b. It is raining.
C: You will not get wet

Now THAT is invalid logically speaking.

However,

a. I like puppies.
b. puppies are great.
C: my puppy is great.

Isn't a logical argument, and cannot be logically unsound. It's an opinion. thats all. Same process, but (a) is an opinion and not a premise.

Well actually its an elective. It was either that or Women's studies and i would probably get kicked out. Not because i am sexist, but because it too tempting to not troll.

Logic does actually extend past formal logic however :P

In either case, yeah dude you can dislike a build and consider it boring... that's fine.

In either case, i dislike worthless builds. Saying that all builds are viable and worthwhile is faulty. Some builds just end in disaster. I am not saying that players shouldn't experiment. On the contrary I think that they should, but as with anything else experiments can lead to failures. So while some individual builds may end up being worthless some may end up doing well.

For example you could create a witch that only uses melee weapons however it will never be as powerful as a marauder doing the same. Therefore its worthless.

However lets say you want to create a witch that can have a specialty in swords as well. This could be useful if you run out of mana.

That is my opinion.
