Let's talk about the future PoE 4.0.0 expansion...

What I expect: New character models and not much else.

What I would like: A re-do of all the Act monsters to bring them up to date with today's power creep. An Act 11-15 storyline that covers character levels 65-80. A new user interface that brings us out of the dark ages.

And what I really would love but know I'll never get: A stand alone client that doesn't need networking to play.
I'm hoping for new types of unstackable currency and shards that will eventually have its own tab.
What I want:

1: New engine, one that doesn't turn the game into a slideshow and one where characters don't look like they're from pre-Diablo 2 era.

2: Much more health for trash mobs, probably somewhere around 400% more. This would create enough incentive to actually have variety in builds and allow for things like CC or actually picking more than a handful DPS nodes on the passive tree.

3: More active and cooldown skills with less emphasis on flasks. Maybe even introduce a new item slot like capes that simply have sockets for "cooldown" skills.

4: Less spikey damage to allow for more variety in builds and not just "path of life nodes". This would imply that they reduce leech/sustain and remove instant logouts so that fights are more about sustain as opposed to everything being made out of paper and you just bailing out whenever there's any danger.

5: Better trade, or no trade at all. If they insist on having trade, have the browser built into the engine of the game (where I don't have to use websites).

6: An alternative to doing story mode.

7: Revamp of all past unique items. Make more that are generally good and not for just 1 or 2 specific builds.


What will we actually end up getting? Maybe a better graphics engine, one to show off better looking cosmetics.

We better get a roll back, everything gets slowed down, semi turn based diablo 1 style, but still being a full MMO. Basically wow. Yeah, wow.
New engine and standalone client. Then we can talk about the rest.
1. New Character Models and animations

2. Revamping monsters, give the "basic" ones abilities and the "advanced" ones more and deadlier abilites

3. Make Sweep great again

4. Make Melee more special by introducing desirable, melee exclusive passives/perks (fortify is NOT exclusive)

5. Add more optional, lore heavy endgame content as an alternative to mapping (I love mapping) for the lorenerds (loregasm at Cavas in the Shaperstronghold memory with Zana btw)

6. Redo Vagans voicelines so I don't have to replace my monitor each time I encounter him, it's getting expensive

7. Add more Skill - slots to assign

8. Give more accurate numbers in game

9. Hideout/Mapping Jukebox

10. An in game "Marketplace" in which players can list their items they want to sell. Then they'll receive a note when someone wants to buy them and people meet at the market place to exchange items, a bit bazaar like. This would at least make trading more real than spamming 20 people via copy paste from an external website and you also only encounter the people who are actually online and willing to trade.

Edit: The marketplace could have several booths, one for gems, one for fossils, one for weapons, one for armor, etc. to make it look real nice and rather realistic. Looking for weapons? Walk to the weapon booth, fill in your requirements (Phys dmg, APS, etc.) and look for the aviable weapons! Found something you like? Send the seller a trade-invitation to open a portal to the weapon booth to make the deal!

There is already a standalone client
I hope they overhaul the entire engine honestly, if this game's supposed to compete with Diablo 4 they will need that. The game looks incredible for considering how far they came from 2012(remember that?) but I would love to see a complete overhaul or maybe a new engine completely? More skills strictly for melee (exclusive) right now there's not really many at all. More possibilities to get to nodes on the passive tree without taking a ton of unnecessary nodes to get to ones you need/want. I love the MTX stuff, but maybe more availability of awesome looking gear IN-GAME with effects on them, so people who can't afford cosmetics can still feel rewarded, or possibly ways to grind for cosmetic items to an extent too. I'll always support and buy MTX for this game, but some good free ones or currency to get some for playing makes the game feel more rewarding for those who can't afford or even just as a good surprise mechanic (LMAO)
More environments, definitely more environments, I love all the acts and the twist on the later acts in the same locations but more areas would be awesome. Balancing more of the end game, the game gets really steep on dmg at the end really quick, gotta be a way to balance resistances/health and dmg output more for more viability for all types of play. Look forward to seeing what happens though.
