Let's talk about the future PoE 4.0.0 expansion...

I personally hope for 1handed ranged weapons, crossbows or some such or maybe 2h crossbows. Much higher raw mage, slower speeds or something. I mean we got a crossbow back attachment with the latest box, so who knows. Honestly i usually just wait and am never disappointed. Leagues alone often times introduce features most games would save up for major expansions, so i am more than trusting ggg to deliver with the new expansion.
No rest for the wicked.

Especially currency items. People get agitated at the hint of someone suggesting an auction house for anything, but with the amount of people playing and the outdated trading system in Path, most of my guildmates and friends who play this game agree now would be the time to do it.

Example: You wouldn't have to PM dozens upon dozens of sellers (most of whom won't respond) only to get a few of the currency items you need. Which then makes currency for some items a 'seller's market' which sucks. Buying in bulk at a 50%-x% markup fucking sucks... and it's only setup that way because the trading system is so bloated and unusable most times, it's for the convenience of not having to PM dozens upon dozens of people.
If we had just an AH for currency, most of these issues wouldn't be an issue and for regular items you'd still list normally like any other item. The AH could also be 'opt-in' meaning you can still list your currency like normal, but would have to contend with those who are able to sell their currency without the hassle of dozens of transactions (most of the time with people you can't even converse with because of language barriers, etc).

This league in particular, I had the most success when I ended up trading with BOTS instead of people. At that point, they are just mini-AHs anyways, and there's 0 player interaction. Not like there is anyways with "Copy/Paste", *trades item(s)*, "Tyvm", *leave party*.

At what point do we stop, look at this, and go: "something has to change".

Exactly. GGG had better fix/replace the current trade chat. For this year now I've been trying to push the idea to GGG that if they are so god damn in love with trade chat ("we don't want trading to be too easy" and all that bullshit) that GGG code us a smart phone selling app to receive WTB whispers wherever we go in real life. Most of us always have a cell phone on us when we are away from our computer so it's the perfect tool to use to get instant messaged that a buyer has sent a WTB and be able to invite and sell the item from the phone app. I think GGG should leverage 21st century technology and bring PoE trading into the 21st century. No one else is doing that and so GGG could revolutionize arpg trading.

But alas, I expect/fear that GGG will not be smart and we will get nothing to make trading work. Hey GGG, throw out your outdated thinking that if buyers and sellers could connect easier that this would somehow shorten our PoE playing life as in "been there, done that, nothing left to do so it's game over" and quit. That thinking (fear) that better/easier trading will shorten our PoE game longevity is crippling GGG and keeping them from fixing/replacing trade chat.

Even with tons of posts in support of an "auction house" I don't ever see GGG going that route. The D3 AH disaster has sealed any thought of having an AH in PoE forever. Next would be some kind of marketplace way to trade. But GGG is 100% against anything that would allow a trade to transpire without the seller's participation (no auto-selling). Thus, the only way left with trade-chat is to figure out a way for a seller to be notified of a WTB without the need to be in-game 24/7. Hmm... what do most people have with them wherever they go... let us think... could it be our smart phones?... well of course! Thus the obvious logical solution to link buyers with sellers is via our smart phones. So GGG can keep the trade-chat format of trading pretty much in tact. The smart phone app would make it functional for millions of players that aren't slaves to PoE and chained to their gaming rig (logged into PoE waiting for a WTB) to engage in trading. We can go about our real lives and occasionally pause for a few minutes to invite a buyer and trade on an item and then resume our real world activities. Problem solved.

Now if we can only get GGG to see the wisdom of this and stop being permanently crippled over "we don't want trading to be TOO EASY". Trading has to advance someway somehow and can't stay as it is now or there really will be a mass exodus of long time players.

Hey,

playing now for over half a year,
some chars at over lvl 90.
I want GG to do us a favour and make item finding more rewarding!
finding 99,99999% of items not worth anything makes you buy the good ones.

I want to find them not grind for currency (obnoxious in Legion) and then buy it.
That is not my understanding of a ARPG game. Overhaul the existing uniques, have them drop more often, reduce currency drop, make items account-bound after some time or have them be traded once not over and over again.

And last but not least ... remove the 10% XP penalty for dying if you're above lvl 90 or increase the XP gain on high lvl maps (maybe a mod).
It is annoying to slaughter white mobs and the suddenly being one shot by stupid Betrayal encounters (imbalance in maps).

just my 5 cents,
Cheers

A proper way to trade items.
Wouldn't surprise me a bit if they removed trade all together. Better than putting up with all the "fix it" threads.

They're not going to make trade easier. They know it would ruin the game. They could make it more fun. They could make it better. But they're not going to remove the two party nature of it. Sellers aren't going to be able to post stuff and come back later for their cash. Buyers aren't going to be a few clicks away from a purchase without dealing with another player. It's just not going to change in that regard.

Quit asking for things that aren't going to happen and focus on ideas that could make things better.

That's just not accurate, and unless GGG devs have the ability to see into the future, all they can do is guess as to what would happen. They have a design philosophy, that's all. Easier trade, doesn't hurt gear acquisition anymore with crafting. It's an old, outdated, manifesto.

Also the trade market in consoles and Korea already remove the two party nature you mentioned.

Right now GGG is just being stubborn for the sake of it's own outdated philosophy to the benefit of no one.

Way to go Shags... NOT! The fact of the matter is that we will never know if an out of game way a seller could be notified of a WTB and respond with the invite and trade transaction would lead to what you say would "ruin the game" or blow it wide open and get tons of new players to come on board and play. If could easily be that millions of players have quit over the 99.999% garbage drops which would normally push players to trade more but instead they just quit out of frustration (this whole trade chat method of trading is garbage for a 2019 game). I haven't quit just yet but I stopped buying any mtx long ago in protest to GGG never wanting to change/fix/replace trade chat with a better way.

As I've stated before and will always continue to state the whole WTB'ing over and over and over and over to no responses is the worst of the worst, makes more players either go SSF or flat out quit, and something must be done soon (PoE 4.0) to facilitate connecting sellers and buyers or else it will be "game over" for many, many more players (I'll play even less than I already do). And my solution does not remove the "two party nature of it" as you stated that GGG wants to keep. It just gets many more WTBs answered by many more out of game sellers going about their real lives.
