Comprehensive feedback

I would prefer just bringing back MoC in some fashion.
I've just assumed the leveling is currently the way it is because all of A3 isn't released.
If I had a couple of Skill suggestions, I would say that Puncture shouldn't even be a skill, it should be an effect all blades (daggers, 1-2H swords, rapiers) and arrows should have, maybe at a variable chance rate. Daggers and Rapiers might by highest, at something like a 8% chance per hit. Arrows maybe a 7.5%, with swords at about 3-5%. With skills and support gems maybe increasing that chance.

Also, Cleave. Cleave should a built-in Two Handed weapon effect, you're doing massive swings with a massive weapon, it should hit an arc in front of you. If you must have two animations for two handed swings, why not steal it from Diablo 3's Cleave, massive side to side swings with whatever two handed toy you're using.
Another post, this thread make me think again about the state of the game since my first replies and if I have one thing to add is that :

And all that kind of ''builds'' is what illustrate to me the ''loss-diversities-in-all-domain'' that POE is experimenting right now. Since OB, more than 4 out of 5 (and I'm really nice) ''builds'' look nearly exactly like this one : a huge U shaped line of passives, mostly on the external ring (the so called ''highway'') of the skilldrasil, which just connect a maximum of major keystones and life nodes and...that's all.

In fact you can summarize the whole situation by the proverb ''the tree(s) which hides the forest'', POE propose a skilldrasil of infinite potential, but whatever your intention about your character if you want to succeed you *must* take specific passives and no others ones. You *must* stack as much ehp (life/es nodes)/immunities (US...)/commodities (BM, IR...) as possible just to even survive the beginning of endgame content.

**DIVERSITIES LIES WITHIN SPECIALIZATIONS** but right now it counterproductive to specialize in others domains because the result is, like a bad exalted roll on a godly item, that your character is weakened and not strengthened. An example is that you nearly never under any circumstances specialize in specific weapon nodes, at best you specialize in broad category (one handed, two handed, weapon elemental damage nodes (and even then, the more generic the better)...).

And in parallel gearing really has the exact opposite syndrom : you *have to* stack everything as high as you can, hp/flat&percentage dps&defense values/resists/MF...you can't allow yourself to have one of them to low level, or even less miss one of them.

It's sad but I don't really see any solutions, except two : a massive overhaul of the core design and philosophy of the game (but at this level, it would be a reboot), or the introduction of incitements to play differently...but specifically how... :'(

In fact sometimes I wonder if GGG, by trying too hard to target the broad ''hardcore'' arpg players, has instead hit the harder category of the hardcore players : the ones who play, no, think gameplay only trough and for statistics and excel sheet and not just for simple fun.

And I fear I'm right, and it's come from someone who play one (if not) the hardest mod of the first Diablo, The Hell.

PS : this thread is really a good reading, lot of interesting opinion :)

PSS : I hope that it's enough readable, because my english is not that good (I don't have that many occasion to practice it, and well...I'm french :) !

I tried to add this to the OP but it seems I've reached the 50k character limit lol. Totally agree though. Every duelist I build has 2 options, go to mara start or north to center to get that life. Shadows I build almost always end up heading towards templar area. Templars head towards EB or CI. Those routes have the most life/ehp or important keystones for my builds which those builds don't function as well without those keystones.

Everytime I build a templar I WANT to go life/es/armor. Then I look at the fact I'll need mana. I can get CI, avoid having to get chaos res and life, just focus on mana (as ES comes from gear). Or I could EB, focus on getting life, chaos res and stack auras. A life/es/armor build just requires too much to function as well as a CI or EB build. Those two options allow you to just ignore a resource while not taking them means you have to get all of them.

I agree on almost all counts with OP

Hope GGG takes this shit seriously so we can have a good game that they can be proud of and we can play for a long time. And that would also help make them a lot of money.

Unfortunately their rather quiet stance on quite a few systemic issues (armor for example) doesn't bode well. I think they really believe the current design is something that works, which it does on some levels but fails hard hard hard on some others (melee, endgame "flow" just to name a couple)

But hey, I do sincerely hope I'm wrong and they fix all this shit up sooner rather than later.

Good luck getting the attention this thread deserves Moosifer, it's a pretty good summary.

As I posted many times before, the game is now 3x more grindy than it was CB, and now it is just one huge gear check that comes very early in the game, that alone is a huge problem.

I've had a few people say they PMed it to Chris and Qarl, also Qarl replying is a good indicator they are reading and taking notes. I highly doubt they'll take what I say word for word but with so many people agreeing I'm sure they'll do some changes. The problem I see with it is they already have a bunch of things scheduled so even if they do make changes I suggested it will be a while. I'm hoping in these next few patches they already had things lined up to address these issues. If there isn't a melee patch and a map patch on deck I'm not sure what they are thinking.

TEN POINT FIVE PATCH. THE. RE. MOOSIFICATIONZ.

On a more serious note I did not post in the thread because I read it a few times over 3-4 days now. I wanted to say that this was excellent feedback and really hit at the heart of melee issues.
"When I close my eyes, I see this thing, a sign, I see this name in bright blue neon lights with a purple outline. And this name is so bright and so sharp that the sign - it just blows up because the name is so powerful... It says, "Diamond Supporter."
Nooooo I was so close to get my little piece of immortality on the net !!! Maybe you could just add something like ''must read awesome post of Hecate67 page 17'' ;)

On a more serious note it is personally sad to see PoE in this state, I was waiting for the spiritual successor of the first Diablo for so countless years, and when I played the CB for the first time I finaly found it. And furthermore the more I played, the more I loved PoE for what it was, and not only for what I would like it to be. The dark atmosphere, the builds diversity, the hardcore-and-overpowerfull-feelings-at-the-same-time's thing, etc.

Now I still liked most of my journey in Wraeclast (even in OB), but I can't deny that as time goes I grow more and more concerned about both my pleasure in the game and the future of the game, that why while I'm really not prolific on forum I wanted to write at least once something to maybe help GGG to take the right decision :s

PS : TEN POINT FIVE PATCH. THE. RE. MOOSIFICATIONZ sounds so much good to the ear !!!
