That doesn't mean it's the proper way to do it. In fact with the way that D3 and PoE are turning out, it's pointing toward the conclusion that it really isn't.

If GGG wants to make a difficult hardcore arpg, they should try innovating within the genre to find new ways to make it hard other than ONLY grinding. I like that you have to grind, but having grinding and enemy damage being the only factors in difficulty results in a very boring style of difficulty.

I completely agree. I have spoken against this since my first posts here. Always said make the game more actively challenging: "want active defences"; "add enemy skills that PCs need to counter" etc. etc. etc. Such suggestions are rarely received well though.

I also have serious doubts things will change without the needed deluge of QQ. And I think there is not nearly enough QQ for a change. With the loot, it was very different, because even as a level 10, if you partied, you discovered what FFA means, and off to the forum to QQ. But with the issues you're mentioning, it's another thing. They become relevant later on, and I don't think lots of people make it in maps. I assume a lot of people quit early on Merciless when their non cookie-cutter build fails miserably and they hit the progression wall...

But the fact that more and more supporters are speaking up (because there is clearly a stigma associated with everything that might seem to move the game away from "hardcore", grinding, or make it more rewarding...) is good news.

I remember once i made a huge ass post about making evasion active, going to see if i can find that actually, i'd like to go back and reread it and try refining it. I still really like the overall idea of evasion becoming active.
I'd agree with the sentiment that this genre isn't a shoot them up or fighting game or platformer.

"Skill", "difficulty".... well there's more depth where those are concerned in Final Fight. This is a l00t pinata game. Where you smash pinatas for lewt.

but that depends on your definition of win.

If you're mission is to complete the story, well ya that's not a problem for most builds.

For me, and I think at least many people playing this type of game the goal is max level and min maxing gear. If gear has to be maxed out to be able to handle the content there's no fun in the hunt. You don't get rewarded for your efforts. Spend months gathering shit to not be OP, just be comfortable. It's depressing.

This is true, back in CB, (shit we say that a lot nowdays dont we), you could get the best gear and acutally be OP, and you deserved it, because getting that type of gear was stupidly hard for anyone to do, now if you get the best gear ever the only thing it brings is the possibility of grinding slightly easier than everyone else.. which is just disappointing..

When i have a 1k ES chest, 300 ES boots, gloves and 400 es helm with 2 APS triple ele swords, well god damn it i want to melt any boss and mob! not just do a bit better than everyone else...Thats why i dont even bother buying better gear or gems anymore, no point in it, ill just do marginally better after i waste a month farming/trading for the best gear...

Yeah, in CB if you had a lioneye, maxed resists and max hp gear you were the goddamn man. Now, you're just a slightly better version of everybody else running bows, with a slightly lower chance to get gangbanged by mobs.

No matter how many people tell you that the game has issues GGG , you don't even seem to care like you did in CBT . GG EZ BOTS .
R.I.P 4.B.
I'm not sure if this bothers other melee as much as it bothers me, but the target box of certain mobs like snakes, spiders, and monkeys makes attacking them an annoyance. This is by far the best ACTUAL comprehensive thread on the forums and it seemed like a good place to voice my irritation with this.

I would not have played the game at all if I had to actually target stuff, it's so annoying; luckily, all I have to do is point my cursor somewhere and my witch shoots ice crap on that direction, so it's satisfying :P
This is Path of AoE too, a little less than HP, but still... :)

Mmmhmm. It is really only noticeable for me when those little buggers are running around or moving to box me in. Just a minor thing. But could be a potentially easy change.

Especially since I use a single target with splash now instead of an actual aoe.

That's part of my frustration with how splash was introduced. Some of these mobs are a pain to hit and when you do it's not even going to cover the whole mob you are attacking.
