Have you ever thought about it how some ppl had like XX exalts on start of new leagues :) ?
RMT sites are one way but there is another.

noone cares about the balance, fun, new content - it is about the economy (and underlying RMT - because lets be realistic, people that care about the economy think dollars)

now's a great time to be buying 17/18/19% gems. I'm a casual player and it took me a couple months to reach 83 after launch, I *still* don't have any level 20 gems but I've got several 20% gems and every one of note is at least 15%.

It'll have nil effect overall on the economy in the long term, since GCP's (in standard leagues at least) would have slowly depreciated anyway, its basically the same as upgrading flasks but on a much greater time scale.

Farming 20 gcp is a lot faster than leveling a gem to 20. At most, this is a little bit of extra long-term income. Got a few extra gem slots? Throw in a bunch of gems and get em to lvl 20 over the course of a week for an extra 5-10gcp.

I have a char with 5 months (lvl 82) and only 2 lvl 20 gems. The time gems up to 20 is so big and the benefits from 20% quality depends on the gem. For some is reasonable for others ridiculous.
People with slots free can use it to get 20% gems but rarely will change your gems that really use lvl 20 for a lvl 1 20% (unless they have other lvl 19 of the same type).

The recipe is to easy IMO. Since you dont calculate 1 gem to level 20, but bunch of them, because you can level as many gems as you can wear at one time.
You can wear 24 gems at one time, and level them all to level 20. Sell whatever you dont need for profit in such case. Additionaly, releveling of such gem to 20 shouldnt be taken in account. You know why? Because most of the time in leveling gem process is just 19 and 20 level of it, till 18 it goes fairly fast on higher level map. So loosing just 2 levels of power, for 20% quality is really big gain. Eventualy if you keep playing the game, you will hit those 2 last levels anyway.

I would change the recipe to "Increase quality by 2%". Why so? It would be nice reward for people who play long but have no luck. They would still need GCP's, like everybody, but would up the quality at much faster rate. Ofcourse the level in such recipe wont go down anymore.

Has GGG ever revealed any of the recipes? The challenge ones were all posted on the wiki ahead of time I think.

No, all recipes were found by the players.

Gemcutter's Prisms are actually gonna be used now, thats the way this game should be played. Economy will get balanced in itself. If you haven't previously converted all/majority of your currency into GCP's/Qgems you won't get affected.
