<<*The 20% Gem Recipe*>>

Spoiler
I've read some of the other threads that are regarding the discovery/realization of the Level 20+ 1 GCP vendor recipe for a Level 1 20% Gem of the same type.

People are arguing that it's a fair recipe and that it won't effect the economy much, due to the time it takes to hit Level 20 on a gem.

I don't know if this is true, but someone had told me it takes roughly 150 hours if you don't chill or AFK non-stop.

I would like to clearly state before I go any further, that I am not in any way saying getting Level 20 on a gem is easy.

I understand that those who have spent their time on the game to obtain these hard to get levels deserve some sort of reward.

The current recipe is a good idea, but I strongly feel that ONE Level 20 gem + ONE GCP is a bit unfair.

In any case, they should make it 3-5 of the SAME Level 20 gem + 1 GCP.

This encourages people to trade Level 20 gems for other Level 20 gems or currency, since people won't necessarily want the exact same Level 20 gems.

I strongly feel that the current recipe will ruin the economy.

Even though people are stating that it won't affect the economy much, I would like them to extrapolate or just think about what would happen in 1 month or so.

Currently, GGG is literally giving you 19 GCPS per Level 20 gem for playing the game.

If we were to say you hold a gem in every slot piece, which sums up to 30 and get it to Level 20 and use the recipe, you would end up with a 570 GCP profit.

Lets say it takes roughly 150 hours to get a gem to Level 20, GGG is giving you 570 GCPs for playing for that duration.

The problem is, you will almost never ever find 570 GCPs during those 150 hours.

People can get 30 gems to Level 20, and use the gem recipe, and remake the same character and use those 20% gems.

Some people may still think that it's very hard to get to Level 20, but I'm pretty sure that those who are aware of this gem recipe will probably obtain Level 20, use the gem recipe, and continue the cycle.

In the end, I'm pretty sure that at least 50% of the player base will have 20% gems on every slot.

This completely devalues GCP, even though it is supposedly the 5th rarest currency to find.

I would like it if the community could give me some feedback on my thoughts, no hate though please.

EDIT: I'm literally just AFK in A1N just watching people link 5x 20% Gems of Level 1 constantly. This recipe just brought in a whole wave of 20% gems. How is that not ruining the economy.

WHY they told us about other recipes but not about THIS ONE?
We didn't. We didn't tell anyone the other vendor recipes either. They were all left for players to discover. The point was for people to be able to discover them themselves.

Some people happened to discover this one before others.

That's how people just get currency. They were just using other people unawareness to gain profits and that's not fair!

Welcome to... life?
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
The economy won't be ruined, it won't change everything. The economy will simply adapt.

People are severely underestimating the length of time it takes to max a gem, and especially in hardcore leagues, very few people will be able to continually use this recipe.

There will be an initial frenzy of selling, and the currency will fluctuate for a short while, but lvl 20 gems are finite, and eventually the supply will dry out. I would much rather use 4 gcp on a 16% gem that I've already maxed than have to go through the grueling 17-20 over again.

I get the arguments, and it's mostly from people who missed out on the profits when it was unknown, and they are a little salty.

Apply real world common sense, if you've got any, and reassess your thoughts.

Ppl were buying 20lvl gems for around 2gcp, then putting 1gcp to make them 20% and selling them for 1 Exalt. That's profit of 10 gcp at one gem!(on standard) That's how people just get currency. They were just using other people unawareness to gain profits and that's not fair!

well the economy should have never been based on gcp

chaos should be the focal point for so many reasons
Read OneLyc´s post on page 3, stop being dramatic and realise the truth.

I even imagine gcp's being in a better place now. People realise how good quality gems are, use them for adding to their found quality gems. You say everybody knows exactly how good they are?
Think again, I'm pretty sure alot of the low playtime people never bothered to try and get high quality gems considering how hard it was.

Sure a gcp has always been valuable, but hardly anybody I ever traded with the last 6 moths ever wanted any as payment.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'm just going to stick to my original statement that it'll ruin the economy.

this is pretty hilarious as this more or less means that poe == d3 now

noone cares about the balance, fun, new content - it is about the economy (and underlying RMT - because lets be realistic, people that care about the economy think dollars)

btw for some reason people are selling 18% gems for chaoses.. i know that now 20% are 'easily accessible' but still. thanks to anyone who sold me gems during last day. i made a great deal and wont be looking for that missing 2%
Haven't read the thread, but to address OP:

It'll even out, because both 20% gems and GCP will drop out in price, then level out.

Sure, 20% gems will have no where near the value they did pre-recipe, but shit happens. Just like real life. When some random country finds a way to make fuel using trees, and is easier than taking it from the ground, then the value of current fuel will drop.

An arbitrary example, but there you have it. Change was inevitable in the current game economy, and will constantly change in the years to come.

Ok, sorry. This was my misunderstand. I'm just pissed that I could gain so many currencys if I knew this recipe before. It's so simple. What a shame. Just need to chill a little bit and after few days look at the economy again. I'm wondering, if the prices of 20/20 Gems will go up or stay the same?
