<<*The 20% Gem Recipe*>>

There's really no PvP that's worth mentioning in this game, if you PvP in the bandits quest you will either win or get destroyed because of what gems you and the other person are using and gear. I don't understand why actually becoming powerful is such a big deal in this game.

Just so one becomes clear, leveling a gem to max level it's like leveling a char to lvl 83 or so.

I doubt it.

I have a level 83 Character with a lot of lv 19 gems though I died A LOT.(+ I prefered to farm low level maps)

Its rather lv 90 Character level for a lv 20 gem I think.

I didn't actually take deaths into account, but I don't think it's that much, more likely 86/87

Currently, GGG is literally giving you 19 GCPS per Level 20 gem for playing the game.

THAT IS THE GODDAMNED POINT.

edit:

okay let me elaborate for OP a bit.

really? so it's your opinion that EVERYONE should get off their lazy asses and start grinding those 570 GCPs?
aka 1140chaos?

because only super rich players who can afford to buy ALL their gems as quality versions in advance deserve to wear them?

and the rest of us scrubs better pay up to exactly those rich people if we wanna enjoy the good builds only they could afford until now?

this is exactly the kind of elitism that ruins REAL economies.

in my opinion the economy was just FIXED!

buy all Qgems your build needs in advance to have a good build? not longer mandatory, but OPTIONAL

spend 20gcp/40Chaos per gem you didn't buy as quality version when you started out and don't wanna trade in for quality gem you'd have to RELEVEL AND GCP to 20%? NOPE, not anymore.

this is good dammit!
it gives you a goal besides just grinding for xp! it also raises EVERYONES survivability which so much has been complained has been supposedly nerfed in recent patches.

"when my gem hits 20..niice...20%"
but if you really can't wait, you'll just do it the "old fashioned" way.
buy Qgem and gcp it up. you now have invested in something and feel good about it
AGAIN OPTIONS!

20% reduced mana gem? COOL i can use it on skills and not just auras now!
ANOTHER OPTION!

experiment with new builds cause now you can 20% gems no one ever considered to 20% because it was just not "worth" it? YES! OPSHAAANZ!

stop thinking so much in profit this orb into that currency this currency into that.
think in OPTIONS and you will enjoy the "new" economy much more!

good day sir!
I'm that Morty guy.

yeah arround that, i just hit level 20 on my first gem at level 86. btw deaths don´t matter for gems, no xp penalty for them.

Anyway, mass hysteria strikes again. It's still easier to bring your cheaply purchased 10% gem to 20% with gcps, than to level it to lvl 20, TWICE!

I'm talking about a 0% Level 20 gem... Not a 10% one, that's a different story.

And the guy who spent 700+ hours, you stated that you have several level 60-80s. You can get Level 20 gems in no time if you just stuck to 1 character, hence proving my point of the roughly 150 hours of gameplay.

Also, 20% on some gems are so worth it. I don't know why some people are saying that 20% isn't even worth. A 20% Faster Casting has the same cast speed bonus as a Level 20 gem at like Level 14 or something which is pretty easy to get.

And if more than half the player base has 20% quality, it doesn't give a player and uniqueness or strength over others.

A 20% quality gem should be hard to obtain, not be obtainable for just leveling the gem.

Also, my point still stands. Lets hypothetically say that you spent 150-200 hours getting the gem to Level 20, getting it to 20% and getting it bcak to Level 20 for another 150-200 hours. Even with 300-400 hours invested, the chances of you just being able to obtain 30 20% Gems at Level is probably impossible or very hard to get, which makes the recipe a bad addition.

Which is why it's likely such a cheap recipe to begin with, because money, at that point, is a moot point. I agree that the recipe the way it is, is fine.

If we were to say you hold a gem in every slot piece, which sums up to 30 and get it to Level 20 and use the recipe, you would end up with a 570 GCP profit.

Lets say it takes roughly 150 hours to get a gem to Level 20, GGG is giving you 570 GCPs for playing for that duration.

The problem is, you will almost never ever find 570 GCPs during those 150 hours.

Let me be very clear…

You are not getting 19 GCPs for a level 20 gem. You’re getting a level one 20% quality gem.

This is a very big difference. Virtually no one runs around investing 20 GCPs in getting a 20% quality gem. The only way your presumption would be correct was if all gems dropped with 0 quality and every 20% quality gem represented an expenditure of 20 GCP.

good recipe =) , will make more builds viable at the start of a new league =) and will keep the prices of gcps high for several months in new leagues =)
