"This loot system is flawed and needs to change!!"

"But, I lag!"

Sorry. I get the shits from pizza. Life sucks some times.

Lol...

Good read, well said.

And why do people on your side keep insulting everyone?

We do see a whole lot of this and its usually on both sides of arguments.
Please keep it civil. We can disagree without it becomming an emotional discussion.

Also someone said that a longer timer would hurt friends grouping together, because they would have to wait for the appropriate person to loot. To me this sounds like someone no liking there being a timer in the first place.

If we have to have a compramise and have an option they could always include a checkbox in options that removed you from the timer pool. What I mean by this is that gear that drops for you no longer has a timer. This could allow for it to be an individuals choice as opposed to the group / developers.

This is only if having an elongated timer is unacceptable.

The way I have looked at it is if the timer was longer and it dropped for a friend and he wasn't around i wasn't loosing out on anything since it wasn't for me in the first place. But if I really really wanted it aka unique... i could wait even if the timer was 30 seconds. But even then I would let my group member have it as it was theirs.

But that is the root of the problem. I would do this, a vast majority of the insult flinging opposition to changes would not. Hence the requests for change.

Sorry for ramble :) -Nimb
I did quite enjoy this humorous attempt of labeling cross-looting as "competitive gaming".

Don't get me wrong- I don't mind, if someone takes stuff with my name on it in a party (I play solo/with friends 95% of my playtime, mind), I then loot every single item that drops for them (when possible) until they leave, I'm up for this sort of "competition", but it's just so...sad. Funny (how bad do you have to be at games that this sort of shit becomes "competition" xD) and sad (because you will probably never even realize this yourself) at once.

I am fully expecting posts a la "you're just mad because people take your loot" and whatever else there is re: the above isn't true at all. Frankly, it is. There is no other motivation for it than greed. 0% skill involved. Nice straw-men all in all, though.

Play some RTS, FPS, MOBAs, FGs or whatever games (or even PvP) for competition.
Fuckin lol at this badness.

Ninja-looting in co-op is the new meta, confirmed.
Why don't the seasons fear the reaper?

^this, so much!

I almost spilled my coffee all over my keyboard when I read that ninja-looting is a competitive gaming thing.

Hilarious indeed.
Let's assume the FFA-dislikers are in the minority.
If the MINORITY wants an optional way then what would that harm the majority? It's a rather easy change to make many people happy, yet there would still be enough FFA lobbys around(if the majority likes them). The only hardcore thing about FFA loot is the dissadvantage your group has because of these ninjas, as soon as something drops they run at it, stop fighting and wait for the timer, now the one who deserves the loot also has to stop fighting and run to get his loot before the timer runs out. This happens everytime something yellow drop and it has nothing to do with competition, it's simply about who has the least interest in slaying mobs or heling the killspeed.

Besides playing solo or with friends, there is no way to avoid ninjas because they are fucking everywhere, hoped that the people in merciless would let me get my fucking yellows but nope, guess that witch really needed that claw more than my claw duelist does. Every fucking time someone opens a chest in the middle of the fight, while the others tank the mobs, truely hardcore.
How is it competitive anyway? You are playing in a TEAM for God's sake. I want to rely on my team and fight monsters. Not fight my team.

And if I wanted to engage in a clicking wars, I might as well go for a round of angry birds or some shit like that.

I mean I never run random groups but the whole discussion is ridiculous, seriously.

I've stated this elsewhere and it doesn't seem to gain any traction but I'll say it again.

It isn't ninja-looting if the timer expires. the loot is only "yours" while the timer is up. They cannot loot the item when the timer is up, therefore they cannot ninja anything. They can certainly take loot on the ground not allocated to anyone by the timer, but that is not ninja looting.

Ninja looters - is a phrase that in my time of online gaming has always referred to someone who circumvented the loot rules for personal gain. If the loot rule system (either explicitly stated in the game or decided upon by the group) is not circumvented, than the party responsible is not a ninja.
"the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."

Happy hunting/fishing
The only competition involved in FFA looting outside of party enabled races is the competition for the "Biggest Jackass Award". If FFA is the only thing propping up the 'cut-throat' feel of the game, then GGG has a lot of work to do because they've totally dropped the ball.

It didn't gain any traction because it is entirely irrelevant. Ninja looters block other players from getting to the loot or race ahead to hit chests and some mobs so that the timer is irrelevant. This FFA looting system is nothing but a griefer enabling farce. It was a big mistake by GGG to put it in the game in the first place.

Semantics, bro.

I don't give a damn if it's in your eyes justified. You probably would also say, that the whole bending of law that happens at court is not shady shit - well, guess what, I do think so.

I mock the whole possibility of grabbing loot. That there are stupid kiddos doing it, is very much expected.

So my grudge would be with the developers on this matter, not the stupid ninjas, who probably aren't smart enough to not give in to immediate desires.

But then again, it's really just a matter of principle. I never do rnd groups anyway, I just think this whole thing is hilarious.
