Nice cherry picking from your OP. I can do it, too!

You cannot join a game that is designed a specific way, with people who enjoy the game because of it being that way, and say it has to change. This is NOT D3 or D2, it is PoE and it has a Semi-FFA loot system.
You lead off by suggesting that people who "complain" about FFA loot are coming to this game and trying to turn it into Diablo, and asserting that the group looting mechanics are a defining trait of PoE.
"
You have a lot of people who have donated to this game because they like it. Many donated because of the FFA loot system. How is it fair for them to donate to a cause such as this game and have a group of people come in and demand that the game they love be fundamentally changed to suit your wants?
Sure, you only said 'many' donated because they liked FFA loot... But you went on to suggest that it would be unfair to change FFA loot, because many CB supporters like it. Suddenly 'many' becomes 'most' or 'all'.
"
So, all of the excuses are BS. PoE does not want to spoon feed you gear. If you want to garuntee your gear drops are yours, play solo. If you want to play with a random group of asshats, then expect to not get all "your" loot.
...Do I need to explain why this seems dismissive and hostile to anyone who disagrees?
Good quotes! That man must be a genius! :P
1. The game was made FFA, people are trying to change it to Party loot. This completely changes the game from being a fast paced, exciting loot find, to a game where people don't even have to try to get anything. So yea, it is fundamentally changing the game.
2. That suggestion never changed the people I was refering to. Try again.
3. Hostile? Perhaps. Perhaps I have sat here and have been called a fanboy 1.4 million times and was treated with hostility by the same people you are trying to protect. Know the people your sided with before defending them, makes your arguements a little more functional.

I've been playing this game for 5 or so months now and I think the loot system needs to be looked at. No everyone is "join[ing] a game that is designed a specific way, with people who enjoy the game because of it being that way, and say it has to change", we're people that have been playing the game for awhile now and have been saying we'd like it to change. Also, keep in mind, all these "new" players are the players base. There are more players now, then ever. This will only continue to rise (hopefully), and more and more will agree. This is a somewhat split discussion, but from the forums posts I've read here and other places, there are still more people who would prefer it to change, some. Don't have to revamp it, just make the damn timer longer.
Every now and again I get in a group where everyone is cool about loot. I ALWAYS leave others loot alone unless they go off screen, then, I'll loot. By then, its been sitting for a bit. I don't camp loot, and this is really crappy etiquette. I was in a group last night where someone inventory was full, and kept dropping a unique because their inventory was too full. This sucks, if someone sees they are having a hard time picking it up, leave them alone. I find my inventory is full sometimes because I get to excited while playing and click around a lot to move and accidentally pick up trash. This is the main reason I get screwed out of loot because of a full inventory. I try to check it every now and again, but people move so fast in groups because they want to kill stuff first so they can take your drops, that I don't get a chance to most of the time. I want to make sure I get my good drops (not even rares really, currency is my main concern), and I want to make sure I'm close enough to get xp.
Don't act like you're better than other players because you prefer how the game has been to the way "new" players want it to be. The system is flawed, if it stays that way, then it does. I don't think it will (unless this has been addressed and I haven't seen it yet) because there is so much talk and concern. They want to appeal to a wide audience, this is what they've said and I'm sure they are taking all this into consideration.
Sorry for wall of text.

For the love of god, FFA isn't hardcore please stop saying it is. That is a seriously illogical argument.

I accept FFA and know i wont get more than xp in pub groups, but saying FFA = Hardcore is ridiculous.
@OP
Also i didnt donate because of FFA Loot so please dont group me with ppl like you.
If you read, I didn't group anyone, except those that did infact donate because of FFA, with me. But your vote is noted.

If you come here naming off other games that you like better for their loot system, then go play them.
I don't follow this line of thought. No game is going to be perfect for any one person. That doesn't mean I can't try to move it closer to my vision of a perfect game. I enjoy the vast majority of Path of Exile and will continue to play with or without a change to the loot system.

it was not "Your" loot. You were just given a nice bonus to your chances of getting it, and failed for one excuse or another.
This is just demonstrably wrong. The loot when dropped is assigned to a person. I don't know it could get more "yours" than that, and "failed for one excuse or another" could easily read "failed because of ill-thought out game mechanics".
Putting your fingers in your ears and screaming "everything is fine!" is just naive. The system can be improved. Does it need a complete overhaul? No. Would a few minor tweaks make more people happy and for a better game? Quite possibly.
For reference, I think there is one core issue with loot right now; that there is a perverse incentive to abandon the current combat and scramble over loot.
To fix that, GGG should consider either:
1) Letting the party leader decide which loot system to use (i.e Full FFA / semi-FFA (current system) / long timer FFA / other).
or
2) To specifically fix the problem of the perverse incentive to abandon combat, dealing damage or taking damage should freeze the timer on "your" loot for 2-3 seconds.
Aurlon
No, that is where you are wrong, it was never assigned to you. You got a upper hand in getting a drop, that is all. But having seen this arguement, I now understand why peope say we should just go back to full FFA. You do not own anything unless you pick it up.

We could remove the timer all together and un-flaw it. Then no one would feel entitled to any loot, and everyone would have a shot at it.
I never said I was better. There has already been added a timer for those that were upset about the FFA, now everyone wants a rediculously long timer, or individual loot. Whats next? Free levels?
I don't see why the game needs to be so easy. Why must everything be handed to you for you to enjoy it?

THANK YOU for posting this, so many people are crying about the loot system. As I have said numerous times to explain to people how it works
I dont mind it when people come in my game and take my loot, if you can outloot me you deserve it. You get massive passive benefits to loot from playing with a party, usually like anything that is balanced you cant have a straight benefit without having a drawback, in this case you get big quantity bonus but someone can nab your loot.

The game does not need to be easy- it needs to be fun. Some people find the current loot system fun, many others do not.

Its very hard to remain civil in a discussion like these. I sometimes fail.
I think it would be hard to ignore the general difference in demeanor between the two sides of this discussion. Perhaps that is one of several reasons many would prefer to opt out of the FFA system. Leaving those who enjoy it the way it is to play without "softcore" gamers polluting the Hardcore pool that they enjoy so much.
a dropdown at party creation should be able to keep the hardcore and softcore player enjoying POE.

"Free levels"
Amazing leap of logic. I....don't even. Nevermind. Changing ...or even tweaking the game is not going to make the game easy. Far from it. But I am sure you or someone else will come up with another amazing leap of logic to come to that conclusion.
