" Well it's kinda true, but there are HUNDREDS of games for causuals. And only one PoE. So I can understand PoE management not wanting to casualize their game, it's risky to play on such overcrowded field and any financial gains can't last for long anyway in there. Besides, playing such games is boring. |

Precisely, POE's complexity is unique among all games. That will protect it from being replaced by other 'simpler' games.
Many speak as if LA is some holy grail of games. Sure, many may like it and keep playing. But just as many can see through the hype and be disappointed for various reasons. Not everyone will find LA as a good replacement for POE. Claiming LA will somehow dethrone POE is paranoia, because LA won't satiate the same appetite that POE provides. There are many games besides LA. Many players will seek other games besides LA that better fit their tastes, even if those games are not the same genre. Just because one likes POE, doesn't mean one will instantly jump to the next hyped ARPG. Meanwhile, players will return POE every new league, simply because there are no other games like it. They will want to scratch that itch, even if only for a few days. |

" This means you havent progressed far. Endgame (the actual endgame which is T3 content) is a lot harder than anything in PoE, since it requires good knowldege of mechanics, team coordination and personal skill. And the hardest raids and dungeouns are really hard. In PoE, you just faceroll maps in brain afk mode ad nauseum untill you get sick of the league, even top bosses are a faceroll once your build is strong enough. " 1% or so of the population truly theory craft. The rest copy or use posted builds. The truly endgame viable builds are also quite small and poe.ninja shows how uncreative players really are. What POE has over every other ARPG is the sheer quantity of stuff to do and rewards to hunt or trade for. the game is truly massive and in a league of it's own. But for me it's too massive and bloated. And sadly there are no big content creators that are in the same boat as the large number of players that bail after a week or so. Chris also stated that if players want the game to continue to get trimmed down, like they did in scourge with the atlas, they should play the league. Well, what about the players that think scourge was a great start but not really enough to warrant playing longer. |

" There are a lot of players that want something between D2 and POE in terms of complexity and sheer grind. Last Epoch and Lost Ark fall in that sweet spot and I suspect D4 will as well. GGG is all gung ho to make a hard mode. But I think if they want to fix the retention issues they should consider a more casual mode as well that voids at the end of the league and doesn't provide challenge rewards. Something where players feel the rewards are commensurate with the time put in. Stop trying to cater to the 2%. I used to wait for flashback events at the end of leagues as they were more rewarding. But then GGG stopped providing them. |

PoE have an advantage with SSF for those that love it, for the others - Lost Ark will be their new game.
