[Vote] POE vs Lost Ark

I thought I would make a longer post about Lost Ark - I've been playing the game since the KR open beta, also played regularly in season 1 and now playing again on the RU server in season 2.

LA is nothing like PoE, it's a full fledged Korean MMO. If you find the limitless combination of skills and the huge variety of gear something you can't live without, you will be very disappointed in Lost Ark, where everyone will wear the exact same gear bar the engravings and added stats, which will depend on your class, but people with the same class will look for the same engravings on accessories.

The way progression works is you do your main quest, get to level 50, then get a set of gear as reward. This will take roughly around 15 hours, an exceedingly boring linear questline that serves as your tutorial. Once you got this set, you will spam the exact same dungeons, raids, daily quests, other daily/weekly content every single day until you get enough materials to upgrade your gear to the next tier.

Once you reached the next tier, you will be, again, doing a different set of dungeons, raids, etc day after day to reach the following tier. Imagine upgrading your base gear to +15 through an RNG based upgrade system (no BDO, so it won't break or downgrade) only to 'recycle' it to next tier gear at +6, then start the upgrading again to +15. This is the only way you can progress. Koreans call the daily quests 'chores', I find it a very accurate way of describing how you will feel after a few months.

Fortunately the content gets increasingly challenging, to the point where doing a raid with random people will almost certainly mean you will wipe. You can interpret this as a plus or a huge minus as well, depending on your preferred playstyle; I know plenty people who quit the game because they weren't part of a solid guild or didn't have a stable group of friends/people to play the game with and simply couldn't progress at the later stages.

Each class has 18 (some only 17) skills, you can choose 8 to fit into your skill bar. You can't use more than 8 skills - most people max out 7 and use a filler as skill points are capped. The skills have a tripod system in place - think of 3 support gems that are available by default- some of these tripods can completely change the way the skill behaves.

Much like PoE, you can mess your skills up big time, and doing so will severely limit your ability to progress, so you will find that each class has a 'best' way to allocate skill points for PvE and another 'best' way for PvP content, everyone will be running around with the same skillset.

Why should you play Lost Ark anyway? Because the raid system is absolutely amazing, especially later in the game where one wrong move will cost you the run. That's where the game really shines, PoE doesn't go anywhere near the complexity of these fights. In PoE, you prevail with your gear and skill setup you grind before the challenging parts, while in Lost Ark you need decent mechanical skills and a good knowledge of boss mechanics otherwise even if you have BiS gear and the optimal skills you will still wipe.

Lost Ark for me. I have played RU LA, and it was super fun. When they release LA this Fall, I will play it until PoE 2 comes out.

Poe for me. Not interested in in an mmo experience.

I have a big doubt, is Tencent that company who purchased GGG/POE? also who owe Lost Ark?

if is that... matters? I mean...
if im not wrong looks like a good strategy to make rise the numbers for Lost Ark having the POE players angry and looking for another game, but the money will go to the same place anyway...

Then maybe I try to play something else.

Imagine wanting to play Lost Ark, proper emperors new clothes game.
