is there a 64 bit executabe for P.O.E.?
"Because 1/3 is already enormous. GGG probably doesn't have the manpower needed to upgrade their engine to 64 bits. This can take many man/month of work depending of code quality, for a probably small benefit. There are most certainly other areas more important to optimize (if they have time to optimize) that would benefit to the whole user base. Ranger builds list: /917964

If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch. " Crashes related to 2GB ram and headaches for devs is associated with only one thing only MEMORY LEAKS in your software :) but this really not surprise me at all with all their excuses and lies about technical background. But to not be harsh real reason is they have no money to fix it, so they need you to advice them where to put bucket of money to advertise game so they can get fresh blood and repeat the cycle. It's probably better business model then loyal playerbase ready to drop money on you when you really need them and admit that. But with the mentality of ggg president this is sci-fi. " In that case i would like to apologize because it would indicate there is none which is kind of impressive because devs these days are becoming lazy in that part but that doesn't mean there are none technical difficulties to overcome Última edição por yourCall#5706 em 19 de fev. de 2014 13:52:11

My game rig is old. 7+ yr old C2Duo, stock 2.7 on an air O/C up to 3.07, 4GB DDR2, RadeonHD4850 vid card.
I used to crash ALL THE EFFING TIME, and the game, honestly, just didn't look as crisp as I knew it should. Certain zones were always a crap shoot on whether I would load or toss out a "Bad Allocation" or "MapHunk" exception, hell, I even got exceptions on audio files at zone load. The only boss fight I could reliably do without wanting a buddy there to hold the instance in case I crashed mid-fight was Merveil (transition to final form Dominus, almost certain crash, same with rolling back the big orb in A2, sudden, massive graphical changes). I was running Win7 32bit. Until 10 days ago, when I did a fresh install of Win7 64. My client has crashed once since then, in some 40+ hours of play time. I can even boost the video settings to "11" and get playable FPS solo, on Medium (which looks just fine to my eyes) I stay at 40+ FPS even in full parties. The client is fine. It runs just fine on older machines, as long as those machines are running a 64bit OS. This is, obviously, my experience. |

There's not much point to a 64-bit app, other than coolness.
A better solution is to simply run the existing 32-bit client on a 64-bit OS with 8GB RAM. This gives PoE unrestricted access to about 3.5GB (off the top of my head), while still leaving gobs of room for the operating system and everything else. 64-bit doesn't automatically mean "better" or "faster". In fact, I can't think of a single game I own that has a 64-bit executable (or uses more than 3GB RAM), although I must admit to not looking very hard. Armagetron compiles 64bit, and benefits greatly from it. It doesnt use much ram though.

" Bad Allocation or MapHunk exceptions indicate a filesystem/HDD problem. Which was most likely solved when you formatted and installed the new OS. Just because your OS is 64 bit doesn't mean that the game executable magically becomes 64 bit as well. |
