Why are you, as a player, against an auction house similar to D3's?

I'm not against it and I think it'd be a good idea.
Its kinda of hybrid system really. But it would be awesome since it would fix some of the trading problems. I think and it would be some kind of an evolution to the system.
Hmm, sry, i'm against an ah, but i'd be all for a Lineage 2-style (similar implementation in an older game, if you prefer) open air market, wherein players can park a toon and "set up shop", listing gear and the price they're selling it for.

particularly helpful is if you could set your character to this state while logged out.

but i'm probably asking too much at that point. its not like you couldn't make a bank alt and have a second computer sitting there acting as your vendor.

two bits.

When you have an auction house, everyone sells everything they find immediately because they don't have to put any effort into it.

This allows more players to buy high-end gear.

This creates a need to rebalance the game so that people with high end gear are not getting bored quickly.

This creates a game that demands that you have high end gear in order to play.

This changes the game into focusing on gearing up a single character as much as you can so that you can participate in end-game content and never building alts because you cannot afford gearing 2 or more characters ever since your main will never have good enough gear.

When people have to actually put an effort into selling stuff, less stuff gets sold and more is kept for alts. Less people get high end gear and the game really doesn't need a rebalance to cater to top shelf geared characters. A better experience, IMO.

This, even blizzard has admitted to having to balance drop rates around the AH in order to slow down progression. This is why you can't find a good drop in that game to save your life and why you are time and time again forced to go the the ah in order to progress. This isn't a theory its simply a harsh reality of how having an ah affects game balance and why if GGG ever puts one in I am will ne done with this game. If I want to spend all my time staring at am AH screen I already have D3 for that. Your just not seeing the bigger picture and focusing on a short term bonus(you get what you want as easy as clicking a button) and not taking into account what long term affects it has on the game. It will make the loot hunt trivial just like it did in D3 and it will cause the same issues.
Auction House = Terrible ide. Like most are saying and how D3 went with it: It will kill the commmunity, we'll be spending more time on auction house, rather than actually playing the game and hunt for better items and the important thing: What's the fun with a RPG like Exile, when you can buy all your equipment on AH (?). The game will become useless then.

Cheven - 39 Marauder - 2H Mace build.
Well this is beta really it could be a great time to offer devs some great ideas on how do make it a better game. The idea about a market place where there is a stalls of different items and like some one already said a wishlist. It can made even better and more unique. i just think that this kinda of system works with this game since it doesnt really have currency and it would be little bit realistic but hey what do i know :) i play games when i am bored and its just one noobs opinion
Because adding an auction house requires a nerf to item drop rates. As a highly anti-social individual any decrease in drop rates would drive me away from the game.
i understand your concer mr. But im thinking of an really upgraded version of an tradechat it wouldnt really be an AH it just burrows some ideas from there
I think to keep the longevity of a game and having an auction house kills the fun for items.

When you have an auction house in place, instead of being limited to ~chat room size of people with items you have 120000 of people putting items in the auction house, you have pretty much an infinite amount of items that people have access too.

To keep rare stuff rare you have to tune drops to the fact that that many people has access to it so your chances of getting something rare will be next to nil.

Rare items get priced next to infinity and common items are dirt cheap (because there are millions of them there).

Albeit I'm not opposed to an auction house, but I'm opposed to making the item find boring. There are several solutions you could implement to make this work, but I don't think there are many that will keep the AH populated or fun.
NO THANKS JEFF. LOL

how about we have trade games back where you can open up a shop lineage 2 style and put items in it while you're afk?
