Path of Exile, Diablo 3, or Torchlight?
Havent played TL2 so i cant comment on that.
I have both PoE and D3 and so far D3 is far more enjoyable then PoE, I was super exited for PoE, so i bought beta acces and immediatly begin playing. At first it was very fun but it quickly become a bit dull and repetitive as hell with unfinished and unpolished content (its in CB duh). D3 on the other hand has attracted my attention far more and im still enjoying it, not going to comment on it since we all know this is the PoE forum and you cant have any other opinions or you are called a troll or hater (the same can be said bout the D3 forums). /flameshield on. PoE
PoE has an awesome skill system with the skill gems. The combat feels better. PoE's passive skill tree is massive and really does allow you to play how you want. TL2 TL2 has the pets which come in handy to sell stuff and buy stuff you need without having to go back to town yourself (although I would never expect them in PoE as I don't think they really fit the style of game). TL2 has random dungeons that may or may not spawn in areas. They are not necessary to do but really add to the game for those who like to explore. Inside the dungeons there are things you can click on that are not really obvious unless you happen to mouse over them (they do sparkle a bit but that can be easy to miss), when you click on them they open up secret rooms. Wish PoE had both of those. TL2 has a much better inventory system. I understand why PoE has it the way they do, and it fits the game, TL2 has a wider target audience and they wanted the game to be more about hack and slash rather than making the touch choices. Being able to mod and play off line are also two big pluses. One other plus that I like, but some don't is that I can make the game easier or harder without having to play all the way through it, in fact I can do it with the same character, just create a new game world for my character that is of desired difficulty. When you beat the game then there is a Game+ mode (this is pretty much what PoE has where you start over and get better gear and the mobs are higher level). D3 Played the beta for a little while. Liked it, but there always online to play a single player game was upsetting. PoE feels like it should be online you have the small aras where you can see people and group with them, just feels ok. All that being said I will be playing PoE and TL2 and when D3 has been out for a while and fixed the glaring issues they have had I will probably play that as well. This style of game has always been a favorite of mine and right now is a fantastic time as we have these 3 games, and GrimDawn is coming out next year. right now ive played bother PoE and TL2 in their closed beta and it would be hard for me to say honestly.
I think TL2 has more potential just to be honest, simply because the game can be modded in nearly any way, so people can change things they dont like, add new dungeons, and on and on ... while PoE is always going to be Dev driven. Also PoE can really start to feel a bit like a grind after youve gone through it once, and while in theory the skill tree offers lots of customization, its not as much as you would think when you begin to realize you need to plan for an uber build if you want to do well in harder difficulties. i mean sure you can make that crazy build you always thought would be neat... but the reality is you will not do well in the harder difficulties if you dont fall in line with the one of accepted powerful skill and talent builds. i think GGG really needs to spend more time on making sure the different skills are all powerful so different builds can function well, because right now once you get passed normal you see 99% of the people using the same few skills and builds over and over. you cant blame the players, because if you dont use one of those good skills and builds you kill slow and the game sucks. edit - and as far as diablo3 goes ... real money auction house ... the game could be awesome, but with legitimized item farming for real money i just cant see much purpose to playing the game. realistically i know ill be able to earn money easier than i can farm items, so why even bother... Hello! First timer here. Loved playing the first TL. Was also throwing around the idea of picking up D3. Then I saw this mentioned (funny enough in a D3 review) and thought I would explore further. I LOVE the darker atmosphere this game seems to offer. Will probably play this AND TL2.
Downloading now...can't wait to try it out. |

Currently downloading PoE.
I tried D3 the last few days, but currently it just seems to be a waste of time. The game is far from what I expect from Blizzard. |

Why not play all 3?? T2 isn't out so buy D3 why you wait for POEs open beta. Then play that for free... everyones a winner and no silly game wars needed. They are all good games in their own way.

" Because if people want to make a choice that's also entirely their right, as it is their right to vocalise here why. This is a GOOD place to air one's issues, concerns and feelings, in fact. Better here than in-game, and certainly better here than on other fora. So that is why 'not' play all three. People have the right to choice and to say why. As you have the right to disagree with them. And at no step in this process is anyone not allowed to look like a dickhead in doing so. This last one is a permission many people seem to be exercising. And they said *I* was bad at PoE. At least I made it out of act 1 and know how to use the /dnd function. El oh fucking el.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

All of them if you can. I'm sure they all have their own unique style. I'm really loving D3 right now, but I crave the gritty feel that PoE has. I also really loved the Torchlight style and can't wait to play #2!
