Path of Exile, Diablo 3, or Torchlight?
" Just to clarify. It makes me feel like the game thinks I'm a moron. I can take the killcounterstreaks(barely) but for being awesome enough to destroy a couple off boxes that happened to spawn so close that you are able to get to next before the streak stops. Just imagine finding an unusual big pile of pots in the pyramid in PoE and then slam them with an aoe-skill. BAAM! Wow you get bonus XP. Well, do you see what I'm getting at? The streak rewards for crates and monsters are only there to make the player feel like he is getting rewarded. It's just psychology to keep him playing. And empty one at that. Sure it's different games and they are somewhat appealing to different players and I get that. But I don't have to play it. :D Última edição por Dalkordigo#2295 em 4 de jun. de 2012 10:15:01

" I don't think this would be a bad thing if the game didn't take itself so seriously. Back in black

I played diablo 3, TL2 beta but only for 1 day and PoE until vendor patch. Let me make it short and point out:
Diablo 3: - utter crap - boring itemization, boring events, melees sucks badly compared to ranged, tons of narrow passages, unkillable elites, hacking issues, ah gonna destroy the game - disappointed completly - 2/10 for arts only TL2: - cannot say much but - funny to play - a lil bit annoying camera - really swarmed by mobs sometimes and its good - will not rate to dont cause confusion PoE: - great game for me before vendor patch 10/10 (after the patch gameplay can be still 10/10 if i forgot about those recipes and orbs) - gonna give it another try incomming days - still checking updates and im still here - that means something - nice customization - a lil bit tedious endgame Grim Down: - cant wait for it, titan quest was awesome - we will have to wait at least one more year I really dont recommend diablo 3. For me it was wasted money. I can recommend TL2 and PoE. i got my beta key from Icoblablubb - vielen danke !!!
the first (and only?) 6 linked blue sox on magic armor in beta :P |

" The thing is, Smash TV was a great game. At its heart, it was silly and cartoonish, and it reveled in its absurdity. Diablo 3 didn't seem to understand whether it was supposed to be a light-hearted self aware cliche fest or a serious, plot driven epic. Some games can succeed at being both (FF6, Deus Ex), but D3 failed at being both. Back in black

Well.
Path of Exile PoE for me, looks and feels like Diablo 2, which has gorgeous graphics, better gameplay and all. Ive never played Diablo or Torchlight series though, so i cant say, but the graphics in PoE for me, seem just perfect, just what ive been looking for. Diablo 3 Diablo 3, didnt seem to be like the other Diablo games, well, atleast what ive seen in the videos. As i said, never played Diablo, so cant really tell. The graphics in Diablo 3 seem more like WoW to me... dunno why, maybe because i used to be an huge WoW fan... Torchlight Torchlight seems like an cartoony version of Diablo 3 (well, MORE cartoony), its fine tho, nothing bad about that. Gameplay wise, it also seems smooth and fun. But when it comes to the story, ive never understood the story of it.... But yeah, from all three, i prefer Path of Exile :) And my list would go like this: 1. Path of Exile 2. Diablo 3 3. Torchlight :P Not all those who wander are lost ...

I agree about PoE feeling more like D2, and tl2.
The problem with D3 is it doesn't even feel like a ARPG, i have played two characters to inferno difficulty and have noticed they have mapped itemization from world of warcraft onto diablo 3. normal difficulty d3 = wow classic items nightmare d3 = burning crusade items hell d3 = wrath of LK items inferno = cataclysm items So you end up with the same similar DPS and health per difficulty as you would find on endgame on each of those wow expansions. Its bad, and the drop rates feel the same as WOW. I've killed about 40,000 monsters, around 3000 elite monsters, and found 2 lengendaries that are crap ( just like uniques from d2) and no set items. All the rest are rare and magic items that have the wrong stats, such as wands with + strength, or 2h Axe with + int. All the items look at exactly like wow drops. The level cap is the same as wow classic. Half way through Hell difficulty you need to use the auction house to find the right items for your character because the drops are so poor you won't have what you need to continue. If you like WOW and didn't play d2, you'll probably like d3, otherwise you will be thoroughly disappointed. Última edição por cdb#7496 em 4 de jun. de 2012 17:18:39

I enjoyed Titan Quest a lot, especially with some mods that increased the number of mobs to make the battles more difficult and dynamic. Hundreds of hours of gameplay in that one :)
It still has very good graphics for a 5 year old game! Can't wait for Grim Dawn, however paying for it under current stage is questionable. Their team is so tiny that it's possible in any moment that they abandon the project because of various reasons. Path of Exile looks like the best successor for diablo'ish kind of gameplay, and the dark atmosphere looks amazing! (even beter combined with the cutting edge graphics). And this game keeps getting better and better. Tried Diablo 3 when it was open beta, funny I DID manage to get in eventually (after many attempts), only to quit playing after just two hours. Boring, dumbed down, way too cartoony graphics for that storyline. I will definitely NOT buy it, EVER. Epic fail Played Torchlight, funny little game, but it suffers from junk creep, when you have so many items with so many options that you just have no idea what to keep or not. Torchlight 2 looks promising, however I haven't played it yet so no idea. I'll probably buy it like it's predecessor, however only time will decide in which one I'll invest more hours. I also played Hellgate London for a good while, very interesting game, too bad it suffered from so many problems :( However, I'd like to see such kind of 1st person ARPG in the future, but nothing on the horizon so far ( at least not that I know of ) Keep going guys ! I feel my wallet eager to spend something soon :P Never give up, never surrender !

Diablo 3
+Lots of polish, feels like a professional game +Innovative skill system that is fun +PVP (planned) -Art design is too cartoony -No meaningful customization, no need to reroll characters of the same class to try new builds -Pay To Win Auction House Torchlight 2 +Will run on anything +Cheap +Pet (could also be a minus. Takes out a lot of challenge) -Outdated Skill Trees -Cartoony Graphics -Vanishing corpses (dealbreaker for me) -Just a few classes Path of Exile +Innovative Skill Tree +Gritty, realistic art style +Free with Cosmetic Cash Shop +Innovative currency system +PvP Arenas (planned) -Clunky Gameplay -Incomplete -Lacks meaningful class distinction (some would say) |

D3. Fail. Needs to be connected to Blizzards servers to be able to play. Potential for account to be hacked, latency issues, server connection issues etc etc. 350-600ms for me.
Long term, another fail. I managed to get a character thru normal difficulty and saw the game story/artwork/cimenamatics. That's all the game has to offer. Pretty back ground scenery and lip smacking cinemamatics that unfortunately you have to play thru a bland and simplified click click game to activate. PoE. Another game that will require constant internet connection to play so the potential for disapointment of blizzard proportions are a concern. latency in the beta isn't much better than blizzards battle.mess. Long term. Interesting. PoE definetely has stepped into the genre that D3 has abandoned. I could see myself play it a few times thru. But the skill "map of the universe" is pretty daunting. Will my local Tertiary education centre run night classes on how to understand PoE skill mega map? TL2. I briefly played TL1. Too cutesy mangaish for me. But LT2 looks like the winner for me simply because I don't need to be connected to internet to play it which means that I'll be able to play it at all. The winner? Grim dawn or going back to D2/LoD or titan quest. Última edição por Asmodeous666#7952 em 6 de jun. de 2012 19:31:08
