Im just ignoring ppl who ask "how much?", i dont make pc's for randoms who pm 100 ppl to see which one sells the item for cheapest price :)
easy as that
I ask how much because poe.xyz will give me 10-99 results and then i try to pick which ones i like best. I start to pm the sellers and some of the shops are months old. I might run into one of the ass hole players (i dont play standard anymore, youre a noob, im not selling it even tho i have it in stash, fuck off), or the player doesnt play the game anymore.
I can send 11 pms and only get 2-3 replies in a timely manner for me wanting to use the item. I ask how much because YOU HAVE A SHOP. You are selling and YOU decided the item worth enough not to vendor, give, or make part of a recipe to vendors.
I ask how much because I dont want to offer 1-3 chaos when you want 7 (i might have 7), then youre stupidly and ignorantly offended and refuse to do business. But if i ask how much, you say 7 and ill pay that...then it becomes easy and everyone is happy.
It doesn't force me to sell it. I literally don't have to do anything even though I have a shop. If you whisper me about an item and ask "how much?" when it doesn't have a price my reply WILL be "offer", unless it is something which has a completely set in stone price. And if you then offer 1 chaos when the perceived value of the item is AT LEAST 7 chaos then after that point there is nothing to talk about. You MIGHT have 7 chaos to pay for it, but the chances of it are low and thus my chance of wasting time with talking to you is high.

Force. Where did i say force? In my mind, you have a shop just like Kroger or Best Buy. If i offer $300 for a $500 TV, they say no, end of story. But in games like this...you still have a shop. IMO, you should price the items. Yes im the buyer, but theres too much of a gap between elitists and casuals. Just as you stated "wasting your time." Like youre too good enough to explain to someone why you want more currency. Some of us actually get more currency over a few days and might come back to you for the trade. But when your attitude is that, when our piles grow, we will go else where.
explain "perceived value" because as a previous page showed, that 1 ring was worth 3 chaos to some and over 1 exalt to others. its all about what the sellers will accept and what the buyer might pay. But im explaining that sometimes casual players might not know the market exactly well and people dont need to be rude assholes and act like theyre better than other people because they have more pixels in their stash. We are all just trying to have fun here.

If you offer 1 chaos for an item which tends to have a net worth of 7 chaos then you probably don't know prices. It also means that you are much less likely to actually pay that 7 chaos since you offered so much lower. Me replying to you wastes my time with a low chance of it paying off - why should I reply and waste effort on you?

That works in pawn stars because, for one, those guys literally live on their ability to haggle, and two, because a pawn shop scenario is not an equal playing field for both parties. Someone going to a Vegas pawn shop is just looking for quick cash, and the pawn dealer always has the upper hand. He can manipulate the transaction in whatever way he wants because the seller lives in an economy that doesn't revolve around bartering, but the buyer does.
The poe economy does not function like this. Everyone is "living" in a barter economy to begin with, nobody inherently has an upper hand in 99% of the transactions. You gain that upper hand by being the aggressor and setting the bar for what you're willing to pay or what you're willing to take for an item.
Except it works exactly like that: the seller doesn't have to sell shit to you - he doesn't really lose anything if he doesn't sell it to you. Items in this game can have huge variance in price just because somebody doesn't know the price of an item so it is a completely valid argument. If you set the bar you're already on the backfoot when selling as they'll try to haggle it lower. Or your bar is set higher than it's worth and they'll just stop being interested. The item has to be really good for this to work out, which means any of this <2 ex shit isn't even worth talking about.
If you ask me for a price and I reply to that you will NEVER get the item from me for less than what I answered. If you want to haggle then do so when I say "offer", otherwise you can just stop bothering me.
So then the seller in question is sitting on a bunch of items that are worthless to him and no currency to barter for stuff that he actually needs because they're too afraid/stingy to take realistic offers for their crap. Sounds like they aren't getting very far with accumulating currency and getting rid of wares.
Not to mention, they aren't filming all the people bringing old stereo equipment or whatever mediocre stuff coming into that shop. They're only filming the equivalent of real world kaoms/shavs/soul takers etc. These people also have a rough script to follow. If you've ever actually been to a pawn shop you'd know this is not how they operate on a regular basis.i
In an actual store this would not fly. In haggling the seller has to start with a price. Unfortunately in PoE people are idiots when it comes to trading. Whoever starts with a price first is often doomed to fail. Most people when they get lowballed (if seller) or told a high price (if buyer) will forgo haggling for ignoring and the sale is never made. Little do either of these parties know but a happy medium could be reached if they just spent a little more time trying to find a price. This is why I put buyouts on all my gear and always make sellers tell me a buyout. "make an offer" is unacceptable.

how about you put your perceived value in there mr. precious time ?
or are you this illiterate ?
Everybody is out for a bargain, I got 7 pm's in 6 hours for this ring all offering under 3 chaos... Do you know what that tells me? A lot of people want this specific ring for a build, so they should stop being cheap cunts and spend orbs.

i didnt say price every item. i still pm shops/sellers with no prices. but i dont pm them saying "ill pay 11 chaos for lvl 30req ring." im simply saying that they should have a price IN MIND. Not physically type out a price if they have 15 rings and 12 amulets, 3 boots, and 15 weapons.
most of my gripe is the people that say offer, and i DO then get no reply. at all. if im low...tell me. lets HAGGLE. LETS BARTER. dont be all "youre shit and youre offer is shit" kind of person. if you want to sell it, lets talk prices.
i wanted an amulet that was good to me but i didnt know it was "that great." i offered 5 chaos and he wanted a lot more. but i didnt have it. we ended up BARTERING and i got the amulet for the chaos, a low level unique, a cast on type gem, some wisdom scrolls and orbs of transmutation.
