Why have you stopped playing?

I stopped playing last night to play Reaper of Souls. I'll probably be back to PoE by the weekend. For me, I just like PoE too much to play something else.

The whole time I was with RoS, I was thinking about PoE. You can't have a relationship with the wrong girl. It will never work.
The requirement of Grinding is OK. But, grinding has to be fun, engaging and rewarding. Take that out, then grinding becomes a chore then people leave.

D3 requires grinding, but the game play is Fun.
Pain is Good for it lets me know that I am still alive.
Because the damage of my main skill was nerfed by 33% with absolutely no warning completely destroying a build I had spent a week worth of time investing into.

I mean honestly GGG if you're going to make such a significant change why can't you say 1-2 days in advance "Hey, this skill is going to be nerfed by 80% tomorrow." rather than "OK SERVER RESTART IN 30 MINUTES, HERE'S THE NERF, GL!" Hell, I've been playing the shit out of LoL now and really they have Unofficial PBE Patch Notes almost every 3 days leading up to the patch notes that go out the day before the patch. I wouldn't be surprised if most modern games actually have patch notes that go out more than 30 minutes before an update.

Maybe it's just the fact that it's a bug that makes this such an extraordanary case. And sure, people can argue I'm just being overly butthurt cause I was using an op build, and my ignorance isn't an excuse. But the bottom line is it was entirely unexpected and devastating.

I guess that's the problem with a game that doesn't have very good QA and as such has such huge bugs slip in like this.

Have to hate it and love it.

Too little fun, too much frustration. There. I just summed up every single post.

I don't see myself ever coming back to this game. Even if they fixed the game perfectly to my wants, it's a "too little, too late" kind of deal.

Yes, the expectations for this game were quite high. The saddest part is they didn't fail by unrealistic expectations, but by puzzling and detrimental choices in coding and core gameplay. The few points of brilliance can't overcome the sheer tediousness of playing the game. PoE RIP.

The surest indicator of someone quitting a game, must be hanging around the forums, talking about the game.

The people who ACTUALLY quit couldn't care less about these forums.

This is just a more creative QQ thread.

Or you know people thought the game had huge potential which was being wasted, and browse the forums to check for changes which might actually drive them to play again. Which is exactly what I'm doing in case you try the "no one does that" argument.

No, I'm sure some people are actively here trying to sabotage the game by now. They don't play and have an active hatred for the game whch compels them to shit-talk the game from time to time. Anyways, where else would they post this kind of stuff? (besides reddit which is actually becoming the official forum for the game now.)

Btw, I could easily imply that you would be playing the game instead of posting on the forums if you loved it so much. But, to be honest, I can't work up much interest to really care what you do.

I just had a streak of some real bullshit luck in Invasion. One shot by an Invasion boss I couldn't even see, a desync death and a character that is level 77, mapping and can't at all find any gear worth a damn. I'm not talking about good uniques, I'm talking about decently rolled yellow items. I've also been alching every base type I need whenever I have them. No results.

This is just as bad as the head smashing I did in Inferno when D3 first came out. It's not fun in the least. I've never played a game that was so unrewarding to it's players. I think it's long overdue that I just put this game down and move on.

If people who REALLY quit, with NO intention of ever playing again have such a vendetta against a video game they waste their time doing this kind of thing, they border on mentally ill.

Advice to them - get a firm grip on reality, and hold on tight.

There's around 5-10 games i alternate playing, they all have their flaws. But I consider all of them in the top 1% of video games out there, 99% aren't even worth playing.

It's like TV shows.. 99% of what's on TV is total CRAP. So when a 'Breaking Bad' 'Lost' 'The Wire' 'Game of Thrones' airs.. I'm grateful.. yeah they aren't perfect, but totally willing to overlook those flaws. And I'd admit the people who made them are probably pretty bright.

People who spend time on these forums after quitting the forums are not there for whining.
They try to explain developers what is wrong in details because they DO care about the future of the game.
Every single post in this thread is rather detailed and well-explained (except the ones which were deleted).

As someone said: too little fun, too much grind/RNG/frustration/punishment.
You don't maintain fun by destroying every successful builds every 4 months to only add a few new builds.
You do by offering new builds without slaughtering the old ones, that's called INCREASING CONTENT, instead of changing it slightly without any sense of PROGRESSION.
