You must be kidding.

The whole game is based around trading, not self found, meaning if you commit yourself to self found you'll be gimping not only your character but your experience as well. There will be even less builds available to you because you'll have no access to market gear. You found something you want to build around? Cool, except in most cases you need to make an entire new character to do that. Moving at your own pace is also a lie, you are completely reliant on your RNG and you'll move at the pace of your luck.

The whole SSF is a big sham for people who for some reason hate trading.

I somewhat agree with the OP that shaper/uber atziri is behind a serious currency wall. If you are a casual POE player an uber atziri set is a shitload of currency that is probably worth about as much as you farm during an entire league. No way Im risking that on 6 portals to some one shot fest with no real way of learning the mechanics.

Its just shitty game design because other than these two bosses theres no real endgame to POE besides grinding maps = essentially same thing as leveling except you skip the nasty bosses on high maps that are crap for your build.

edit: actually leveling now is way more fun than endgame with 10 acts.

edit: actually leveling now is way more fun than endgame with 10 acts.

The mechanics are exactly the same, that you experience on normal atziri, except they have 4-5x the life pool and hit 2-3 times harder.

"The whole game is based around trading" only if you let it be. The game plays fine SSF. You just have to like to play with the challenge rather than simply buying what you need. Both options are available. Neither should be rejected as "wrong", even though I consider trading as bad as using cheat codes.

They like a starvation feel to their game and many players enjoy that environment. But so as not to exclude people, they also allow trade. Both sides are happy.

From what I understand, Arziri uses chao damage, so you need chaos resistance. but most people do not stock up, hence significantly harder. I couuld be wrong though.

dont worry about it, the beautiful thing about this game is that it doesnt really have a finish like, or any restrictions

if you like leveling characters and trying out new builds, go ahead and do it.

you dont need to kill shaper unless you want to, aside from it being a pretty fun fight, it's not the most rewarding thing in the world (probably sank like 300c this league into shaper maps, made like a 100 back tops)

she's almost pure fire (think she does some physical with melee hits and such, but mostly fire)
getting a ruby flask and purity of fire actually makes her a lot less threatening

@ 鬼殺し: nice post back on page 1. Play the way that keeps you interested.

I've been killed by regular Atziri, but never killed her. I need more practice, but I'm not in a rush. Gear improvements and better play on my part would help.

Yyyyyep! I mean hah, Uber Atziri? I've never seen normal Atziri. Most characters I make don't reach maps, and the ones that do usually only play a couple of them, because character development has slowed down so much by that stage of the game that I'd rather make someone new instead.

And that's fine. It's a game, not a checklist.

^This, in 5 years I have attempted normal Atziri once.
Uber or Shaper? Not likely any time soon.

Trading has to be the easiest thing you can do in this game
- collect rares
- sell them for alts/collect them for chaos recipe
- transform the alts and jewellers into fusings
- trade the fusing for chaos orbs
- go to poe.trade and buy whatever you want

Meanwhile my friend just gave up on the game at maps for some nebulous reason... Is this game really that hard for new players?
