[Vote] POE vs Lost Ark
Well these type of threads are going to be booming the closer it gets to Lost Ark NA release (plus after release too). Not only that, but the audience potential for ARPG scouters are going to be higher nearer to the release. Thus more potential for people weighing out POE verses LA, who never played either yet.
What are they going to say, if LA isn't p2w? That it has most of the features POE has, but more? More players, more pvp, more gvg, more 1vs1 skills to use, more knockdown animations, better rolls, ect. Even if the game has a bad business model, they'll still compare ARPG features from 1 title verses ARPG features from another title. All I know is LA is POE biggest rival right now, not Diablo 4 for now. I don't know if having a unique skill tree, will make up for lack of social expansion or competetive pvp playstyle features. Also since someone replied that this game is only active for 2 weeks, per few times, per year. Just proves that they should mix things up. The people insisting this game has to be a single player game; they haven't succeeded at making this game active for longer than 2 weeks per league. So why even cater to those single players? If they are dragging this game through the dirt, just to insist it has to be like a battle.net ARPG, but not a Guild Wars 1 ARPG, LA ARPG, Ragnarok Online ARPG, or other open field playstyle lessons for GGG. P.s. PLANETSIDE 2 is releasing a whole new pvp continent, with 100 times less the devs, cash shop funds, or marketing. So I don't want to hear any noob tell me a game, can't make balanced faction vs faction morpg pvp maps. When other devs are doing far more, with far less or little. Heck like I mentioned earlier Blizzard wouldnt even balance a AV BG map for the factions, since vanilla. With millions of more funds than the Planetside 2 team. Yet PS2 has balanced base faction vs faction pvp maps, for 100vs100vs100 people. With rpg lvling balanced systems in place, per class. Its a fpsmmorpg, so I don't fully compare the game to mmorpg's, but still it's worth saying that, if PS2 can do this, than Blizzard or GGG, or whoever, should not have any excuses ever. For making decent faction vs faction pvp maps. Especially if they have millions of more funds + top streamers marketing your game, PS2 doesn't have that. So it's not about the funds, it's about the devs. Who's hoarding the potential update money, ect. By the way PS2, building a new 3 faction verses continent, is the size of WoW balancing Alterac Valley battlegrounds, a thousand times over. That's the different. PS2 can balance 1,000 faction vs faction choke points, roads, or base layouts equally, fairly. Before Blizzard can balance 1 damn road near a Graveyard to help the Alliance out. So apparently, it's not always a question of funds, it's a question of passion for the hobby to improve it or ignoring it to profit, then fail later, which Blizzard is now failing, for ignoring the players too long. P.s.s Not to mention theirs mobile phone games with better arena pvp or gvg (tho it was sadly a p2w game, so players left eventually) " Dragon's Nest Mobile " Heck even had better dodging mechanics than POE for 1vs1 duels. Arena rankings, Guildvsguild maps, ect. For a phone game, with less funds, what's GGG's excuse? Why does a phone ARGP get players to sign up to the pvp npc, but a pc arpg makes tons of excuses for why people aren't entertained enough to sign up for npc pvp rewards or rankings? Why does 1 arpg retain interest in that theme, but another doesn't. Maybe because 1 had pvp rewards for 1vs1 arena fights from launch & POE didn't from launch, idk. Ragnarok Online, also had tons interested in World Of Emperium Guild vs Guild, so people saying theirs no audience for ARPG guid vs guild, is soooo misleading. Tons of people have interest for it, maybe not on the forums, but tons of people who have played Dragons Nest, IRO, or LA have interest. So the problem isn't the interest or audience numbers, it's how to RETAIN the interest. 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Free hair style options. Seeing how wow classic release destroyed b blight league numbers, it's a safe bet that LA will do that to the coinciding league as well. If it has a more lasting impact depends on its player retention...

Lost Ark looks like that game on steam that had high hopes of being the best and instead was a refund fiesta.

I don't trust anything that comes out of Korea. I don't care how good it looks, in the end it's gonna have a catch, and the P2W is atrocious.
Even if I hated PoE, I'd still avoid Lost Ark. Besides comparing and ARPG to an MMO is kinda....... |

I have played a very little of Lost Arc, less than 10 hours as I just got a closed beta key.
The funny thing is, and this is of course my 1st impression, LA looks 10x better than PoE and run 10x smoother at the same time. And it is beta, at least in EU. All these details and no bloat and everything is clear and visible even in the dark areas... clearly visible :) With regards to gameplay, they are just different. I prefer PoE type of gameplay, character building and content. But PoE in it's current state is just bad. Has a lot of content, much more than needed, but everything else is simply terrible. Visuals are terrible, balance is terrible, crafting is terrible, loot is terrible... this league is terrible. Too much content and such a bad implementation. When I started around Metamorph everything was so much better and I prefer PoE from the times of Metamorph, Delirium and Harvest leagues. And Harvest to go core too... in its original variation. I don't know what the LA mid and end game looks like yet, but in general I don't like repetitive quest type of game play - go there and kill 5 mobs. Go elsewhere and bring me 3 of something.... and again and again. I hope it's not only that. But the time will show. |

No, lets just compare POE to Diablo 2 & Baldurs gate forever. Yawn.
Actually POE plays less like the days of when I played Diablo 2. & more like the days of when I made many years of low lvl 30 + ish alts on WoW. During when new servers released, from 2005 & onward. 40+ WoW alts 10+ new servers, during Vanilla. = More similar to POE leagues, than Diablo 2 is to standard league. Maybe my Ragnarok Online nostalgia, far outweighs my d2 nostalgia. It was just a better top down game overall for quality moments while shared with others. How about stat points that are better than d2's version, for starters. Yet I don't see top down small char games / portal hopping maps = all that different from eachother, just because 1 has a bigger town & more reasons to party. Both are multiplayer, jumping the rate % of multiplayer aspects to a single player game, may be stepping over the line. But not asking a game that already has multiplayer, to be even more so multiplayer, isn't asking that much really. It's just simple progression of what already exists. Simply saying, "Oh my game has party features, but lets not expand on those features or maps that benefit those features; because single players will whine". Single players whom make of the minority of overall pc gamers. Who try to make themselves sound like the majority on these forums, when they never are or will be for pc gamer's as a whole. Is a horseradish debate to have. Besides Witcher 3, I don't see what single player games bring to the pc realm. Without getting too specific, but generalizing. I guess I haven't tried Jedi Fallen Order yet? Heck even Warhammer Total War I wish had better ping hosting multiplayer servers, than it does. This is a vote thread after all. I'm pretty sure new ARPG's besides just D4, LA, POE 2, or LE, will reveal themselves after 2021. If you're not betting on POE 2 turning into a mmorpg, than what are you betting on? A league mechanic; which essentially is just a re-skin of pressing a button to summon more mobs? Meh, I'll pick my mmorpg social expansion idea's ~ over that any day. P.s. So many people saying what a game is, are so square. Have you heard of a sandbox? A SANDBOX? They don't have to turn this game into a mmorpg, but they don't have to keep copying diablo 2 either. Well I tend to only play one ARPG at a time and so they absolutely compete for my time. I haven't played POE since last winters short events, which were very fun.
Lost Ark will be my goto when it launches and will remain that way until I get bored or it turns out the P2W elements are just too much to compete with. In the meantime I'm trying Last Epoch and will play a week or two of D3 when the next season launches. I was really happy to see that POE reduced the size of the Atlas, but the game is just waay too bloated for me. As has been said a million times, GGG doesn't respect my time and wants me to make the game a second job. Right now I'd be more inclined to try a season of WH40K:Inquisitor Martyr before returning to POE. The one thing that definitely would get me back to POE would be a much more rewarding and streamlined mode where everything you earned was voided and didn't count towards challenges. I'm also sick of doing the lame story on every character and Chris being against any alternative is just pushing me away as well. Last epoch will be adding an alternative in the form of dungeons in a future patch. I don't care how much time they spend making the story acts in POE2, people will eventually get sick of it an want an alternative. I never once got bored leveling up in the Delve event last year. |

Is it me or Lost Ark is a game for kids? No gore, no blood, no corpses, no human or even animal enemies (just robots or some kind of constructs).
