[PoE 2] Low CPU/GPU usage and FPS in Towns and certain areas
Putting out the obvious:
I am not thermal throttling, the temperature of my GPU never goes above 60c, CPU even lower at 50c. My power supply is fine, since in other games and even in PoE1, my GPU/CPU stays at around >95% usage, and GPU uses close to its max TDP. Memory is not an issue, both VRAM and RAM stay at less than 50% and 80%. Details on problems The FPS in certain acts(like Utzaal) and towns/encampments, hovers around 60-70 while the CPU and GPU usage never goes above 60%, this shouldn't be happening as in many acts, my GPU usage stays at >90%, and I get over 100 fps consistently. 60-70 might not seem to much of an issue, but the problem is I am getting these numbers on the campaign, and I haven't yet started maps, at where the performance will tank even more. This was not the case with PoE1, and my PC was used to the fullest(99% usage across the board). Hoping it gets looked at! EDIT: This issue is greatly evident in the Savannah map. The Slick map runs fantastic, probably the most optimized. I do have the same symptons with an I7-8700 + RTX3070TI setup. 50-60fps in town areas, but noticably unsmooth - while the CPU and GPU are hovering around half of it's usage. Thermal-wise, I am close to 65Celsius, so no throttling there...

same here... i was looking for this .. im on a 14 900k ... 4090... but in the grapgh in town .. i got one core of cpu going on top .. i run about i dont know 90 fps ... 100 fps in town... but other place im about 170 fps .. im on 5120x1440 ... not the end of the wordl .. but when we take a break we are in town and my cpu run intense ... i was looking for a fix when i realise it s only in town .. i will be sure to be not in fornt plan when i take break

Same experience on a 5950x with a 4070 Super.
120FPS everywhere, even on maps with various gpu/cpu utilization. The moment I teleport to a town the fps drops down to 60-90 depending on the amount of players walking around. cpu/gpu utilization will sit at 30-40% here, if not lower. hi guys probally the issue with all of you is because you are running RAM with just one stick or dual channel (xmpp) is not propelly enabled in BIOS
also, poe1-2 wont use 100% of you cpu no matter what because they will focus process on first 2 cores and calculate secondary stuff to the rest of them but generaly when you get low cpu/gpu usage but still low fps its because RAM is not working fast enough to send information to the cpu. took me years to realize how it works, make a good use of this information. cheers |

" All wrong. I have XMP enabled, my ram runs on 3200MT/S on both sticks which are also in dual channel mode, 3200MT/S is the max supported by my CPU. My CPU reaches 100% on loading screens and performant areas where I also reach 100FPS. So that's not the issue. The game is an unoptimized mess and needs improvement. |

Update:
Just what I was afraid of, this issue again still persists and happens at a significant level in certain maps, the following screenshots are performance logs from the Fortress Map, where performance is the worst I have seen in the game. ![]() Terribly Low CPU/GPU usage ![]() FPS stays around 55-68 ![]() CPU overall performance by per Core/Thread basis, none ever goes above 70.3%. REALLY hope for some improvements in the future. |
