[PoE 2] Low CPU/GPU usage and FPS in Towns and certain areas

3080 Ti
Custom waterloop - no overheating

Widely varying fps across different maps and scenarios.
50-80 fps in town, 60 fps in empty maps, 120 fps in crowded maps.
Just random.

Bottleneck is CPU ~90% of the time.

I am using and old i7-4790K 4GHZ Cpu, where the load is quite heavy on 1 Core (80%), middle (40-50%) on 3 cores and idle (10-20%) on rest of 4 cores.
GPU is an rtx2070 using 3440x1440 resolution where gpu itself could fuel around 60 fps, but I see heavy stuttering even at Hideout.
Thinking that this old cpus can not be loaded well from Poe2, while from D4 I see around 80% load on all 8 cores, so cpu and windows can handle it from other game.

Is there anything can set to use all cores or game will be changes (fix) to use them all?

Thats just how the game works, best options are to make sure PoE is using most of your CPU and the OS isn't limiting it in anyway, I use Project Lasso for this. There are a few GPU side features which use reduce CPU usage, for my AMD GPU it was Anti-Lag, disabling it gave a significant boost to my fps, like about 15%, and CPU is more active in Path of Exile, and disabling Anti-Lag did not yield any negative effects, but solved some stuttering too, Nvidia features will be different.

Thx man, I tho i was going crazy. I notice this when I changed my build to one that use Spark, and few days ago i was doing some things to optimize my fps and then I started to see this, when I cast many sparks the FPS goes exactly 30 and graphics goes to sh1t and the CPU GPU usage was very low. I was thinking what is happening. Thx to you it was the anti-lag. Problem solved.

This has only become a problem for me after the recent 0.1.1.C patch.

As the OG poster noted Savannah is the worst culprit.

I had no issues like this before the patch. For my Savannah run that had 4 breach's it seemed like bodies of mobs just kept stacking up once dead. Animations for movement began to fail near 10-15 FPS during breach's. This is a massive change from before the past, the worst breach on the worse map I may have gone down to 40-50 fps during the breach.

Walking around after mobs are dead on this Savannah breach map I see a lot of bodies appearing and disappearing, pots/chests appearing and disappearing, etc.

You'll get weird standing mobs after their deaths that only appear when you are about half your screen away, and flicker in and out:




Chests will open and shut as your walking by as well. Never seen this mess in thousands of maps (I have multiple character over 94 in HC) until this update.

Tried to get an image of what was happening in breaches on Savannah, but that just made me die on level 95 HC cause the frames shot so low I couldnt even see my shield depleting :). So its back to the beach for me, but seriously please fix whatever happened in the patch.

Hoping this stuff is looked at.

Take a look into why your CPU is bottlenecking so hard. It may or may not be from your side.
Unlikely to have a sudden change this drastic in performance right after patch when I have had to complete thousands of maps prior to this with 0 issues. I was playing just before and just after patch.

It still can just be a coincidence, your CPU is at 31%.

I mean I find it unlikely since nothing in my system is getting near maxing out. GPU also shown as 31% in image.

It doesn't have a problem skyrocketing my CPU usage on loading screens, like numerous other people have reported.

I'd take suggestions on checking my end, but the likely answer is the patch. I guess I'll wait to see what people report in by tomorrow before blasting one of my other HC mappers to FPS hell.
