" This is the way I see it too. The game should be optimized, graphics updated/fixed (no more poison arrow nonsense, etc) and the netcode revised. When PoE takes up 2.5GBs of RAM and Crisis 3 takes up 1.2 you know there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with your games optimizations. At this point, all your resources should go towards this goal. In fact, I'd rather the game stop at act 2, then continue onto act 3 in it's current state. All of this should have been ironed out before Open Beta even started. Stating that your game is OK, and pushing more and more content out, more skills, etc, and not fixing the underpinnings which are ruining the game and driving players away (how many HC players do you think have quit because they died multiple times to desync?). I love you GGG and think your game is amazing, but from a business and software development standpoint, you've dropped the ball a tiny bit. You can easily stop "further production" and start working on a polish phase, otherwise, they'll be nobody interested to test it out further OR fund your project. |

" this could actually be good. Usually games stream content as you play, PoE seemingly puts lots of stuff from the start in the RAM. Which should make that very fast. However... PoE still loads a lot :\ Even with 2.5 GB RAM consumption. At how the game looks, everything should be almost instant with so much of it in the RAM. Also, Crisis would release in a finished state, and with a full AAA team, meaning people had time to finish all content, then they optimised, then released. PoE is in a constant content delivery system, and they have a very small team, which focuses on creating new stuff as I understand it. When they consider they are "done" with it, they will go to optimising. It might obviously take some time, but you cannot have the same expectations from 20-30 men indie company and AAA development/publishing :) placeholder for creative sig

It has a life of it's own.
Keep desync talk out of here! These are not easy changes, nor things that can be done quickly. I know it's annoying to hear but if you can't stand it just wait until official release, it should (hopefully) will be better by then, as long as it's a beta you have to be forgiving with technical shit like that. Damn Moos, you pretty much hit the nail on the head with many of the issues. While I don't agree with all of you points, I do agree with the majority of them. I only started POE 2 days before open beta, and am really just now beginning to get an idea of what a pain in the ass end game is. Ofc, that is endgames current form. I suspect it will change with act 4 but if they don't keep players immersed in the game there will be no need for an act 4 because there will be no one left to play it. I find myself reading forums more than playing these days, and that historically leads to moving on to a new game for me.
Anyways, i'm glad someone took the time to put together a neat and organized look at this games problems. edit: MoosiPrematureDischarge lmfao DISCLAIMER! " But that's kinda the circle jerk though. If you can't play the game 100%, then people aren't going to want to contribute to it. It will never get any of the problems fixed. Adding new content is fine and dandy, but you HAVE to fix the foundation of the game first. Game has potential to be sure, but I'm thinking the new car smell is going to wear off eventually and they going to be left with nothing. In most cases, less is more and I feel strongly about that point. It would have been better for them to release a much more optimized game that has half the content, then to worry about adding content onto a partially broken system. Covering a turd in sprinkles...it's still a turd you know. |

No, free cell (which I'm actually been playing alot of lately) has no desync or lag issues but gets old quick. It's the sum of the parts. If the content sucks no one will care that the connection is perfect. If the content is awesome people might forgive lag somewhat, but with a lack of things to complain about guess where everyone gravitates?
If either is bad people will go away. For me personally, desync is annoying but I understand it takes time also I adjust accordingly so my playing experience isn't ruined by it. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th

" Desync does make certain new skills that shall not be named *cough cyclone cough* unusable. Potential new content destroyed by old bug. That is really the only example I can think of however. Most other skills, desync is a pain in the dick, but manageable with adjustments to playstyle. I am pretty worried these new melee supports with be the exact same thing. I was planning to take a single target skill and turn it into a main aoe via splash and multistrike combined. But after playing with infernal blow tonight to level up the gem, I noticed trying to use this skill on white mobs or anything that died quickly caused major desync. It seems that anything you can't hold down the attack in place button and still hit stuff, is doomed to this rotten game breaker. I agree with you though. I'm not worried about desync nearly as much as I am worried about end game. I have faith they will find a cure for desync eventually. It just seems silly to me to keep releasing new skills that will automatically be hard/impossible to use because of this bug. DISCLAIMER! Well you have that feeling because you assume everyone at GGG is working on the same stuff. The guys making new skills have nothing to do with fixing desync. I can only think of like maybe 3 people (2 by name and 1 has it in his forum sig I just can't remember the name) that are working on skills.

They must not have desync issues on their testing rigs? Anyway, i'm not raging about it. I just wondered why they would tease us with these awesome new toys that we really can see and touch, but can't play with. Talk about a cock block. One thing is for sure. I will be holding off on any future micro points purchases until I see some improvements in endgame AND desync.
Anyways, off topic :) I wish I could contribute something to help the cause but I lack the skills to identify problems and potential solutions. All I know how to do is like or dislike things. Hope that GGG reads your thread man, good stuff. DISCLAIMER! The views and expressed opinions of Dragon are solely those of a drunken redneck and are not necessarily those of a sane person.
