That being said, the Templar is my main character, lvl 81 and only have one more character at 76. I'm really enjoying it and will roll him again in the next league.

lol seriously? Scion is so damn annoying to me, everything she says is stupid IMO. Does that stop me from playing my ST scion? No.

I have a tri-totem Templar, it's kinda cool but I find myself using flame totems more than anything. I need to branch out and get arc or stormcall or something, I just haven't invested any points into bonus lightning damage.

It sounds stupid on paper, but in practice many people are heavily influenced by this sort of thing, whether they realize it or not.

Much of my online gaming experience is in League of Legends, so I'll use an example from it. Urgot is a character that is just ugly, in every sense of the word. His aesthetic is ridiculously niche. He's also unpopular. People didn't want to equate those two things, because everyone likes to think they focus on mechanics above all and are above that sort of thing. When Urgot was overpowered (legitimately dominating tournaments and things), he was STILL an unpopular pick. It was as simple as no-one wanted to play him because they didn't like the character.

Until you hit the highest points on the ladder, picks were simply not dominated by powerful characters. They were dominated by "cool" ones and ones that people can relate to. Personally, I think at least part of this is due to the targeted age of the LoL playerbase, but I have no evidence for it.

Most people wouldn't want to admit that their play-patterns are being influenced by something like that over raw mechanics, but the reality is that it does happen. A LOT. You may not be succumbing to this. If so, good for you. But dismissing it out of hand is just a little ignorant.

Edit: I should point out, this is based on what I saw in the past, when I played League. I don't know what it's like today.

The religious undertone is too creepy on the templar.

He was not overpowered for long, and he is just garbage right now (this coming from someone who enjoys playing urgot actually) That is why not many people play him.

Also you can't judge by your games alone, sometimes I will go weeks without seeing a champ then all of a sudden 4 games in a row with them.

Granted I honestly really dislike scion's voice over and if I could have her same start on the passive tree with a different character I would, but since I can't it's not a big deal that I pick her when I want to be centered in the tree.

I will admit I unlocked jinx just because I find her hilarious lol, I prefer other AD's abilities.

Are we really going to get this politically correct? OMG (oh my goodness) he said God!! I am not playing him b/c even the mention of a deity or anything that it stands for makes my ears bleed!

"Behold, the touch of God!" - Oh no it's cool if dominus says it, it's only not cool when templar refers to his God, b/c there's a slight possibility that he's refering to the Christian God and we certainly can't have that!

What if he's referring to Muhammad or Buddha? Then it's ok right?

No, those gods are also not really something I'd like to come into contact with. Think they're all pretty ridiculous.
Have to deal with religious mouth-breathers in real life, no need to have them in games as well.

The honest reason on why I will never play a Templar is because of how they look. Scion, Shadow and Duelist are much cooler imo.

Templar and duelist are the worst classes in the game by far due to horrible pigeonholey starting nodes.



I mean look what templar has for starting choices - melee physical which excludes all ranged builds and then mana regen which excludes all bm builds. There are some nice nodes once you past the initial crap nodes including the strongest aura cluster in the game, catalyze and discipline and training.

Right now, templar is as bad as pre buffed ranger and if anyone has a poe tree poster they can see exactly how bad that was.
