At one point, the Templar was the one class that could conceivably turn into any kind of character, from tank to minion master to ranged, multiple totems, etc.
The Scion has since stolen much of the old crow's thunder, but I still like the old bastard. Plus, there's nothing creepier than an old man with no pants and a long staff in both hands ranting about god!!! |

I do like the look of the old geezer. I don't like his starting area though. I don't really care about his ramblings. He IS from the church after all. I't be much worse if he had no connection to his past anymore. (And I've played with much worse chars...Keldorn/Anomen come to mind)
So to answer the initial question: I don't play a lot of templars because of their starting position. Flameblasting enemeis to ashes is definitely working though. Which is why I am enjoying my templar at the moment. :) CliveHowlitzer wrote:

In Nemisis there was a crazy build with lightning warp totem and arc and lightning trap his charachter name was Complexity_Of_Light i think and he did decent dps and shocked-stacked EVERYTHING.

There is one class I hate in this game and it is Templars.
My hate is my reason for not playing them. They piss me off and I can't stand looking at him. Makes me want to beat up my monitor. Kinda caveman-ish I know. |

Forgot to say that I don't think templar is underpowered. You can make very solid builds with templar. Take Kripp's BM Discharger, for example.

Templar was the first class I picked back in the start of OB. At some point I had to retire him because CI required more ES gear investment, and arc was and still to some extent crap. Then again, it was my first character, so rookie mistakes was to be expected since I did not play much in CB. He did reach lvl 80 despite all that mess.
After going through numerous changes, and a ton of regrets, he has reborn from the ashes of failure and became this today

 He is currently lvl 82, and is doing much much better than any other build he had in the past. Of course, this required a lot of theory-crafting, research, luck, and some currencies to make it happen.
