Removing "Filter White Items"
We feel that the "Filter White Items" option in the UI settings is bad for the game and that it never should have been added in the first place.
The time period that it was added was when we had much worse item spam and high level players were actually drowning under white items. This has since been substantially resolved. Being aware of white items is an important part of the game. They can represent gear upgrades, crafting opportunities and can have very valuable quality and/or socket arrangements. I figure before we just rip the feature out, it'd be good to let people know in advance in case there are some valid reasons for the feature. Hmm, i got concerns regarding full groups additional item-quantitys.
For me it wasn´t much of a problem to hit "space" after a battle, lets see how it plays out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drDs-Y5DNH8

I believe the feature is useful if you modify it a bit. White "trash" items are things such as a no-quality +6 armour pair of gloves with a single green socket that drop when I'm playing on a level 60+ witch. White items that are most definitely, absolutely NOT trash are +20% quality 6-linked socket Superman armour which give +300 energy shield and require level 60 to equip.
The problem with filtering white items is that there's no middle ground. You get the crap with the incredible. If I had a little menu for it - "filter items that do not match (at least one of/at least two of/all of) the following: (quality X% or higher/X sockets or more/level X to equip or higher)" - then the feature would be useful. The most important thing is fun. Finding a great item is fun. Trawling through an entire screen full of garbage, vomit and faeces is not fun. I think removing this option is a good idea. It's like the ying-yang thing; without mundane white items, magic and rare items just aren't that spectacular anymore. If you have a sea or white items, then few magic or rare item you come across really become gems. If anyone checks that feature on, they will miss out on this 'feeling'.
And also, as you said, they also have valuable crafting functionality. IGN: Royal_Princess, Princess_of_Wraeclast, Vaal_Princess, Diamond_Princess

I have a hard time wrapping my mind around why removing options is good in ANY case, specially when they already work and are implemented correctly.
I mean, there has to be at least one person out there that wants to use it, right? Then why take it away from him/her? The rest of us can just leave it off. I even use it sometimes: For instance: Rather than constantly pressing ALT, I like having items constantly highlighted (toggled on with Z) and to be picked up while holding alt. This makes it easier for me to avoid skipping the good stuff, and I can rest my thumb comfortably away from ALT except when it is needed. This means I get lots of white text around, which is sometimes a little annoying (big item clusters make it hard to see the mobs). Also, since I get FPS drops every now and again, it's easy to missclick and pick up the wrong item. Due to all of this, I filter the white items out while playing in Normal and Cruel, because realistically, there aren't any good white items in those difficulties. I filter them back in from then on, as the sockets start to get interesting. Also (even though this may be partially mitigated by the new loot patch) I filtered white items out while in a party with competitive looting. It let me register the good things visually very fast, without distractions, and made it easier to click the right one. In conclusion... There are uses for it. I wouldn't ask for this feature if it had to be coded, but since it's in and working... Why remove it? Última edição por Falcord#4858 em 5 de jun. de 2012 04:48:29

A new player might not realize how vital these white items are for the crafting. He'd chose to filter them out and miss out on a very important part of the game.
Otherwise,ye it does have some legit uses. |

" Well he'll find out eventually. I didn't realize how important regals and GCPs were and I burned them on shit items and gems. This isn't a game that holds your hand. If "filter white items" was on by default I'd definitely complaint, but as an option it does more good than harm. |
