The truth about RMT and Botting

So long as there is a market for an online virtual currency. RMT and botting will NEVER go away. GGG had a great concept with the bartering system but due to the rarity and need of desired orbs the demand grew much larger than the supply. The majority of all players in any online game are casual. These casual gamers are usually just as competitive as your hard ore gamers. They just play much less.

These casual players have two choices, play the game and be below average or find and RMT site to allow them to compete. This is a simple logic to digest, time is money. People spend money on their hobbies.

The only way to truly make a blow to RMT is to make orbs common. So much more that the only true bartering going on is between items. If there is no value in currency, supply becomes insignificant.

As for botting, a simple captcha window popping up here and there when zoning or randomly hourly wouldn't hinder gamers experience any more than the terrible in game chat setup. But it would make botting a pain in the ass and require monitoring vs leaving your bot on for days on end.

Just my two cents.

you are out of your fucking mind

ps

while I'm in the rmt thread, I'm wondering why game companies like ggg are so hostile towards rmt -- is it something like they feel a third party is exploiting their work and intellectual property?

I really don't know jack about rmt, but it seems pretty harmless.
some guy basically spends his own time and gets another person to pay him for it -- like pretty much everything else in the world.
the guy paying spends more money, but saves his own time, and none of this is stealing business from ggg, as they don't sell any of this stuff for cash in the first place.
I can see if some guy was counterfeiting wizard hats, or whatever.

You had me to you got here. You think a captcha is going to slow them down? Really?

RMT isn't a problem. Never has been, likely never will be. GGG is simply wasting time and resources. Every time someone buys something in the shop its partially being blown on pointless, outdated thinking.

My two cents?
No, no and no.
I've never been okay with the idea of people being able to just buy their way to success in a game. I'll admit that when I was young and foolish, I bought a Zod rune for real money on Diablo 2. It was silly of me. I haven't done it since though, and I definitely don't condone it in this game.
It is very possible to play this game casually and do fine. The problem is if you get some crazy idea that you deserve to have every massively rare thing in the game just because you are playing the game, it's absurd. This idea of entitlement all over the game blows my mind.

Well said Clive.
I couldn't agree more.

The truth is RMT customers make you all jelly because they gain advantage you cannot get without paying the money. Some people have money, some people have time. Only the ones that have loaded parents can have both. RMT users are not doing anything shameful or harmful, illegal. It's the RMT company that does that. It would be the same if you would say "I hate the drug addicts, or the guy smoking pot more then the drug cartels". This is what we have in modern mmos - we punish the RMT clients, while the cartel continues to exist, not giving a shit. I'm surprised how many of you can live with said logic. All you have to do to make the RMT business go away is to make it less profitable. Those guys are working for a bowl of rice anyway. One of the ways is limiting rng for the first few levels and boosting the orb drops in harder maps. Another - active gm and a gm report button. A guy that will ban ip adresses/machine names of accounts advertising RMT.

I guess this means I am some kind of mythical creature that only shows up in grainy photographs and video. I always knew I was special.

In my opinion RMT is not the problem here, botting is.When u had ur exalt worth like 15 chaos, even a casual could afford in some playing time to get some good items. But when the bot is getting in, they flood the market with so many low orbs until the economy has become a piece of s... , even for a semihardcore player has become a problem to gear his chars

Ad Hominem at it's finest. Be constructive not a jerk what are you 8 yrs old?

The amazing amount of communism in these forums is staggering. "Its my way or no way, your idea sucks"! Get over yourself and be part of something.

I surprised GGG hasn't said anything, the lvl 25 restriction is laughable and they know it.
