A cornerstone of ARPGs is replay value
" this inst "slamming"? seems you came in here with a chip on your shoulder, got called out and are now backpedaling fast than a politician. |

" He said I was slamming him. This comment wasn't directed at him, and was posted before he entered the conversation. What you did was take something used in a different context and applied to a situation where it didn't belong......like a politician. |

" LOL, what majority? The minority of people giving a fuck in a forum only taking up 5% of the actual average player population of which an unknown percentage are even posting their mindless shit? Please continue, I am sure your majority will love to read more while the actual relevant customers are enjoying the game. |

" If they start appealing to the masses, sometimes it backfires for the game dramatically. This is in full swing over at D3. You also have to realize, this is a rather small indie dev were playing the game of, not some multi billion dollar conglomerate with enough financial backing to make the next big thing. No one ever expected this game to be the next big thing, but we all kinda appreciate that it is. Even if its only a FOTM for some people, it wont be for alot of the dedicated fan base. That same fan base that played D2 for those many years. EVERY game thats comes out has a huge swelling of players within its first few months, then subsides rather quickly. Since its a free game on steam, it got alot of sudden players, who then got bored. And honestly, the streamers have nothing to do with it. They dont like crafting? So what, no one does. Its not meant for the everyman to get the best gear in the game. You dont need the cap dps to succeed at this game. Having average dps and survivability is fine. Yes there might be a few bosses overtuned, but thats comes with the balancing and testing territory. It will eventually be evend out. This game isnt complete, its a work in progress. Let the cowards leave. Those who actually enjoy this game will be around for years to come. They keep giving me reasons to have stash tabs, and I'll jeep buying them. They keep giving me new skills, and I'll keep making alts. They keep making kick ass special effects for my stuff, I'll keep getting bad ass looking stuff on my characters. I'm not going anywhere. This game has an enormous replayability.
The minor drawback being that each thorough playthrough is probably worth 200 hours (for basic characters, multiply by 10 if you want to build a physical wander for example). So... Well... Yeah. The way I see it: the investment to play lot of alts at very high level is just not worth it. Playing alts just for a normal difficulty playthrough is not worth it because your char isn't specialised enough at this point. However, the time investment is just right if you wish to up a lot of alts up to cruel Dominus. And your characters will be ok geared quite easily and have enough "personnality" at the end of cruel. You can then finally enjoy a bit of the game during act 1 and act 2 merciless. At this point you should probably stop or be prepared to invest a lot of time to beef up your char. My conclusion: this game has enormous replayability, but: -: don't aim for maps, or even act 3 merciless depending on build/time to invest -: the replayability is plagued by normal difficulty and half of cruel because your alts will feel way too generic. The "déja-vu" is overwhelming and this part of the game is a straight up chore when you already played it 5 times On a side note: " It's better to compare PoE to D2 because there would be no competition with Median. Median was designed by a smart and competent guy whose goal wasn't to directly make money out of it. The premise is completely different than PoE or D2 and allowed the game to be designed as a "near perfect" gaming experience. It certainly is far from perfect, but can't be beaten or even compared to by a long shot. |

" That's very odd... My friends list is around 10 at all times. Though two of my four friends who played have quit. The trade chats are still crazy busy. I have a hard time keeping up with the items as they fly by. Races are still populated by many more people than played during open beta. So I don't think you can conclude that this is a sinking ship. Tons of people play this game. Many who quit will be back for new leagues. I think it's in a pretty darn healthy state right now. |

" I'll break it down so that you can understand. If 75% of the 5-10% of players on the forums are unhappy, then wouldn't that bode true for for 90-95% not using the forums? I mean, it's pretty simple. Also, since you're clearly a big 'numbers' guy, what % of my 0/30 friends list voiced their opinion here? What % of the top streamers who left did the same? The Steam users who abandoned? And the chat channels that have become almost devoid of activity in 2 months time? If you're not seeing the huge decline in players, then it's because you don't want to. But what do I know, I'm not a "relevant customer" because some elitist white knight math major on the forums doesn't like my review of a product. |

" Nah, I am fine with your review but was doing you the same favor you did to others in here. Pissing on every in your opinion "not relevant" position. Have a nice day. As for your first argument, this does not necessarily need to be true. If the forum population has entirely different perks than the actual player population, deriving any form of conclusion may be flawed as it can not be applied to both populations the same.
