Fellow HDD players: I thinke we're being saved

Did you just say I'm the trend?

Did you just imply that I'm the only one complaining about PoE?

No, the trend is people have been complaining about performance since the game came out.

I've seen you argue quite well with people here so I know you have pretty good reading comprehension. Therefore you must be deliberately being obtuse here, as I in no way implied that, and you know it.

But, just in case you somehow don't know what I was implying... what I was trying to say is that you've spent a lot of time here on the forums, so you can't not know that these complaints are not new. Nobody is that blind.

I was kinda hoping for some comments after the patch and how it works with HDD and I see the typical garbage defending Tggg.

The actual fuck.

They have been making terrible choices and there's always excuses for them.

Patch was smooth for me. Improvement was modest, but noticeable. Game size is also smaller than before, albeit that's at least partly cos I haven't run the GGPK Defragger recently. People running Linux seem to be particularly having some issues, which they're apparently working on. Taking a combative view of things like this doesn't help you see clearly.

I mean at this point you can buy an SSD for poe and some other games for less then a league supporter pack.

Just frikkin do it man.

Most of the time I play on desktop with decent specs

but at times I travel and have to make do with a less than decent laptop with outdated HDD.

This new patch will hopefully do wonder.

well you can upgrade your laptop with a SSD, it will make it so much faster, my old laptop was unusable for everything but the SSD really revived it

For you, is GGG a super duper hyper very good uber develop companhy that never did anything wrong? Are you sure there are zero issues with PoE file system? For real, is it all the players fault, ever?!?!

No they certainly aren't. There are probably a hell of a lot of things wrong with their engine and i am pretty sure they know that. That's why they keep working on improvements. But things like that take time, especially if your calendar is already full to the brim due to a 3 month release circle. Whether that tight circle is necassary from a sales perspective, i don't know, but i'd assume GGG wouldn't submit themselves to such a tight schedule if they didn't think it was necessary.

For me this isn't about who is at fault. For me it's about "how do i solve the problem". Seeing as i, as a player, can't force GGG to throw their own schedule over board to fix all the issues that bother me in this very moment i see myself with 2 rational choices.
1) Quit the game as i can't play it in an enjoyable way.
2) See what i can do to try and solve the problem, in this case, upgrade my machine.

The apparent third choice that some people here seem to pick (rant on the forums 10 times a day in the most toxic and unproductive manner possible) simply doesn't make any sense to me as it does nothing to solve the issue at hand.
I mean if those people would go and make a topic in the feedback forum listing their specs and the problems they encounter so that GGG, if they happen to read it, had something to go by, then i could understand that and would be totally fine with it.
But topics like this don't help anyone, not GGG, not the guy with the problem and not the people who are looking for interesting discussions but find only toxic rage posts chained endlessly. It's just riling up everyone and ends with flame wars.

Ok, but these issues are not issues that "bother". They are problems of development. Also, you don't solve the problem, because you can't solve the problem.

It's GGGs fault that they have agressive schedules and can't develop things with minimum quality on the coding part. Hell even the delivered content doesn't have minimum quality since like forever, reason we have 2-3 weeks of beta test every league.

Some players, me included, gave plenty feedback that this schedule of 3 months of development is too short and GGG can and must take its time to properly develop new leagues and new content because in the long run it's better for the game and us, final users. Yet they refuse. Who is stubborn here?

I started this topic to celebrate the technical patch for hdd users. It's you guys that came in here to start the flame wars.

Anyway, post-patch. The very fist time I logged in I admittingly didn't really notice much of a difference. But I logged in later a second time. It was noticably better. When you log in and see the character list, there's a bunch of exiles in the background in the game. That, for the fist time ever, was already loaded by the time my character list showed up. Before this patch what would happen is the exiles in the background were not even there, then they show up as crude black figures, then the slowly load up. They were instantly there this time.

Legion monoliths, again the very first one was actually a terrible fps drop, but every single one after that I experienced 0 fps drops there after. This is something I've never experienced before.

For vulcan, the overall performance looks better but I occasionally run into micro-stutters.

I wonder if it had to rebuild shader caches which is why it was more laggy the first time?
Still didn't play maps or anything else post patch. After the download I logged in and took 3 minutes to load everything in Karui Shores.

After that I went to my HO and everything was already loaded.

Exit the game and reentered, everything was already loaded as expected.

Will check later and see, but overall seens better.
